Cosmic-string calorimetry with a 220\,PeV neutrino

Abstract
KM3NeT has reported KM3-230213A, a 220\,PeV neutrino with no source identified. If it comes from a cosmic-string network, energy conservation makes the event a calorimeter. The flux measures the power the network has spent, not how it emits, and a cusp at critical current can supply that power at unit efficiency. The event gives Gμεp=(2.8--4.3)×10-11 for fν=0.1. Pulsar timing already reaches 10-10, so one event competes with the arrays. For the branch that still radiates gravitationally, flux and timing together require a third of the network's energy in particles, a share that further events above 100\,PeV would measure.
