Abstract
This paper introduces DruMR, a mixed reality (MR) drumming system designed to make learning drums more accessible, responsive, and feedback-driven. By combining Aerodrums hardware with the Meta Quest 3 headset, DruMR allows users to drum in a virtual environment without a physical drum set. Unlike existing VR drumming applications, DruMR emphasizes instructional value through quantitative feedback and future integration of AI-generated insights, refined quantitative and qualitative visualizations, reactive environment modes and more. Overall, this paper reviews the current state of the DruMR system, related works that influenced the systems development, planned user study comparing physical and virtual training, and future work to be added to the system.
