Spectral properties of twisted soft waveguides
Pavel Exner, David Spitzkopf
Abstract
We discuss a model of a soft waveguide described by Schrödinger operator whose potential is a twisted straight channel of non-circular profile. We show that a compactly supported twist makes the operator subcritical, the property being expressed in terms of a Hardy-type inequality. On the other hand, a periodic twist raises the essential spectrum and its local slowdown may give rise to isolated eigenvalues below the essential spectrum threshold.
