Shear Thinning of a Critical Viscoelastic Fluid

Abstract

The frequency and shear dependent critical viscosity at a correlation length =-1, has the form η=η0-xηG(z1,z2), where z1 and z2 are the independent dimensionless numbers in the problem defined as z1=-iω203 and z2=-iω20c3. The decay rate of critical fluctuations of correlation length -1 is 03 and kc is the effective wave number for which 0kc3=S, the shear rate. The function G(z1,z2) is calculated in a one loop self-consistent theory.
