Surface magnetic anisotropy at a compensated interface of ferromagnetic antiferromagnetic bilayer

Abstract

The periodic deviations of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic spins from corresponding uniform configurations are shown to be energetically favorable close to a compensated interface of ferromagnetic antiferromagnetic bilayer. The amplitude of the deviations decreases exponentially into the film volumes as a function of a coordinate perpendicular to the interface. The interaction energy is found to be proportional to a square of a scalar product of unit ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic vectors.
