sin(2beta): Status and Prospects

Abstract

An overview of the observation of CP violation in the neutral B system, and the measurements of the CP violating asymmetry sin(2beta) with B to charmonium K0S,L events, performed by the BaBar and Belle experiments at the SLAC and KEK B factories is given. In addition, the measurements of sin(2beta) with several other modes are described, including B to phi KS, which, as the leading contribution is from a loop diagram, could be sensitive to physics beyond the Standard Model.
