Partial Reconstruction of B0 Ds+ D- Decays and Measurement of the Ds+φπ+ Branching Fraction
Abstract
We present preliminary results on the branching fractions BF(B0 Ds+ D-) and BF(Ds+φπ+), based on a data sample of approximately 124×106 events collected by the detector at the PEP-II e+ e- --factory. BF(B0 Ds+ D-) is measured selecting neutral meson decays to the final state Ds+ D- with partial reconstruction of the Ds+, in which only the D- and the soft photons from the decay Ds+ Ds+ γ are reconstructed. The branching fraction product BF(B0 Ds+ D-) · BF(Ds+φπ+) is measured via a complete reconstruction of the whole decay chain. Comparing these two measurements provides a model-independent determination of the BF(Ds+φπ+) branching fraction. We obtain the following preliminary results: BF(B0 Ds+ D-) = (1.85 0.09 0.16)%, BF(Ds+φπ+) = (4.71 0.47 0.35)% where the first error in each measurement is statistical, the second systematic.
