Standard Model correlations between K -> π decays and observables in B Physics

Abstract

Including the recent preliminary results of BaBar and BELLE experiments, we update the currently allowed intervals for various CKM parameters: , η, 2β, 2α, 2γ. We also update the SM prediction for the rates of the KL π0 and K+ π+ decays, their ratio aπ , as well as for certain observables related to B Physics like the CP asymmetries a KS in B0d J/ KS and a φ in B0s J/ φ or the mass differences mq (q=d,s) in the B0q- B0q systems. We investigate the correlations between them. The strongest correlations are between i) aπ and a KS, ii) (K+ π+ ) and md/ ms and iii) (KL π0 ) and a φ. These correlations are likely to be violated in the presence of New Physics and therefore provide stringent tests of the Standard Model.
