The electroweak matter sector from an effective theory perspective
Abstract
The object of this thesis is the study of some open problems in the electroweak matter sector from an effective theory perspective. The topics studied include: General aspects of dynamical symmetry breaking models, studying what traces these mechanisms may leave at low energies. A treatment of CP violation and family mixing in the framework of an effective theory and the determination of some of the effective couplings involved. Theoretical issues connecting the renormalization group, gauge invariance, CP, CPT and physical observables. The possibility of experimentally constraining some of the effective couplings involved at the LHC.
