The electroweak form factor (q2) and the running of 2 θW
Abstract
Gauge independent form factors (e; e) and (e; e)(q2) for Moller scattering at s << mW2 are derived. It is pointed out that (e; e) is very different from its counterparts in other processes. The relation between the effective parameter (e; e)(q2,μ) 2 θW(μ) and 2 θeff is derived in a scale-independent manner. A gauge and process-independent running parameter 2 θW (q2), based on the pinch-technique self-energy aγ Z (q2), is discussed for all q2 values. At q2=0 it absorbs very accurately the Czarnecki-Marciano calculation of the Moller scattering asymmetry at low s values, and at q2 = m2Z it is rather close to 2 θeff. The q2 dependence of 2 θW (q2) is displayed in the space and time-like domains.
