Implications of a very light pseudoscalar boson on lepton flavor violation
Abstract
A long-lived very light pseudoscalar boson would favor lepton flavor violating transitions of charged leptons. Its implications on the li --> lj γ γ, and li --> lj e+ e- transitions are investigated. Assuming 2 me < mφ <mμ, it is found that the inequality B(li --> lj γ γ)<B(li --> lj e+ e-) is hold. The experimental constraints on the decays li --> lj γ, li --> lj lk lk, and li --> lj γ γ are used to bound the φ li lj couplings.
