High--Energy Multiparticle Distributions and a Generalized Lattice Gas Model

Abstract

A simple lattice gas model in one dimension is constructed in which each site can be occupied by at most one particle of any one of D species. Particles interact with a randomly drawn nearest neighbor interaction. This model is capable of reproducing the factorial moments observed in high--energy scattering. In the limit D → ∞, the factorial moments of the negative binomial distribution are obtained naturally.
