The SLD Asymmetry in View of the LEP Results

Abstract

LEP determines 2 θ eff, by combining the various asymmetry measurements to be 0.2321 0.0005. On the other hand, the left-right asymmetry as measured at SLC corresponds to = 0.2292 0.0010. I will discuss the possibilities of this being i) a statistical fluctuation, ii) a hint for New Physics or iii) an experimental discrepancy.
