Jet Shapes in ep and pp Collisions in NLO QCD
Abstract
We have calculated jet shapes in low Q2 ep and pp collisions in perturbation theory at order αs3 for the hard parton-parton processes. For the γ p process resolved and direct contributions are superimposed. The dependence of the jet shapes on transverse energy, rapidity, and inner cone extension is studied. The numerical results of the calculation are compared with recent data from ZEUS at HERA and from CDF and D0 at the TEVATRON. Good agreement is achieved if the problem of merging overlapping jets is taken into account by varying the parameter Rsep as a function of transverse energy and rapidity.
