Effect of contact ineractions on higgs production cross-section at an e+e- HZ collider

Abstract

New interactions appearing at a scale larger than the weak interaction scale v can affect physical processes at energies below through non-renormalizable SU(3)× SU(2)× U(1)y invariant operators added to the standard model Lagrangian. In this article we investigate the effect of flavor conserving contact interactions on the total cross-section for the process e+e- HZ at =500 Gev. We find that for ≈ 2.5 Tev, which is consistent with LEP and SLD asymmetry measurements on Z peak as well as theoretical estimates, these operators can increase the total cross-section by a factor of 3 relative to the SM for intermediate mass higgs boson.
