Abstract
We extend Cuntz-Quillen's excision theorem for algebras and pro-algebras in arbitrary Q-linear categories with tensor product.The excision theorems for the bivariant periodic cyclic cohomology of discrete,topological and bornological algebras and pro-algebras follow from this.
