On sums of Hecke series in short itervals
Abstract
We prove ΣK-G j K+Gαj Hj3(1/2) ε GK1+ε for Kε G K, where αj = |j(1)|2( πj)-1, and j(1) is the first Fourier coefficient of the Maass wave form corresponding to the eigenvalue λj = j2 + 1/4 to which the Hecke series Hj(s) is attached. This result yields the new bound Hj(1/2) ε j1/3+ε.
