On the fourth moment in the Rankin-Selberg problem
Aleksandar Ivić
Abstract
If Δ(x) := Σn xcn - Cx denotes the error term in the classical Rankin-Selberg problem, then it is proved that ∫0X Δ4(x) x εX3+ε, ∫0X Δ14(x) x εX11/2+ε, where Δ1(x) = ∫0xΔ(u) du. The latter bound is, up to `ε', best possible.
