Antiprotonic Helium Atoms

Abstract

Metastable antiprotonic helium atoms 3,4\! H\! e pe have been discovered recently in experiments of the delayed annihilation of antiprotons in helium media. These exotic atoms survive for an enormous time (about tens of microseconds) and carry the extremely large total angular momentum L 30-40. The theoretical treatment of the intrinsic properties of antiprotonic helium atoms, their formation and collisions with atoms and molecules is discussed.
