We use the relative modular operator to define a generalized relative entropy for any convex operator function g on the positive real line satisfying g(1) = 0. Numerical Toy-Model Calculation of the Nucleon Spin Autocorrelation Function in a Supernova Core

A Statistical Mechanical Interpretation of Black Hole Entropy Based on an Orthonormal Frame Action

I show that a lowest-order pQCD calculation of elastic vector-meson production does reproduce all the features of experimental measurements at HERA, for all Q^2 and all mesons, at fixed energy.

Making use of an Ehrenfest-Maxwell relation we show that in Abelian projected SU(2), in the maximal Abelian gauge, the dynamical electric charge density generated by the coset fields, gauge fixing and ghosts shows antiscreening as in the case of the non-Abelian charge.

We present results from our study of the Parallel Tempering algorithm. We examine the swapping acceptance rate of a twin subensemble PT system. We use action matching technology in an attempt to maximise the swap acceptance rate. We model the autocorrelation times within Parallel Tempering ensembles in terms of autocorrelation times from Hybrid Monte Carlo.

We show in the maximal Abelian gauge the dynamical electric charge density generated by the coset fields, gauge fixing and ghosts shows antiscreening as in the case of the non-Abelian charge. We verify that with the completion of the ghost term all contributions to flux are accounted for in an exact lattice Ehrenfest relation.

We apply smoothing to SU(2) lattice field configurations in 3+1 dimensions before fixing to the maximally Abelian gauge. The Abelian projected string tension is shown to be stable under this, whilst the monopole string tension declines by O(30%). Blocking of the SU(2) fields reduces this effect, but the use of extended monopole definitions does not. We discu

We continue numerical studies of the spectrum of the pure U(1) lattice gauge theory in the confinement phase, initiated in our previous work. Using the extended Wilson action $ S = -\sum_P [β\cos(Θ_P) + γ\cos(2Θ_P)] $ we address the question of universality of the phase transition line in the ($β,γ$) plane between the confinement and the Coulomb phases. Our

The Constrained Effective Potential (CEP) is known to be equivalent to the usual Effective Potential (EP) in the infinite volume limit. We have carried out MonteCarlo calculations based on the two different definitions to get informations on finite size effects. We also compared these calculations with those based on an Improved CEP (ICEP) which takes into a

Studies of implementation of the simulation of the Bose-Einstein correlation effects in the JETSET particle generator are performed. Analysis of dependance of the one-dimensional correlation function parameters on the presumed boson source size reveals appearance of the effective new length scale, which limits applicability of the simple momentum-shifting me

The correlated production of Lambda and Lambdabar baryons has been studied using 4.3 million multihadronic Zo decays recorded with the OPAL detector at LEP. Di-lambda pairs were investigated in the full data sample and for the first time also in 2-jet and 3-jet events selected with the k_t algorithm. The distributions of rapidity differences from correlated

The interaction, in the long--wavelength approximation, of normal and superconducting electromagnetic circuits with gravitational waves is investigated. We show that such interaction takes place by modifying the physical parameters R, L, C of the electromagnetic devices. Exploiting this peculiarity of the gravitational field we find that a circuit with two p

We reconsider the issue of proving large scale spatial homogeneity of the universe, given isotropic observations about us and the possibility of source evolution both in numbers and luminosities. Two theorems make precise the freedom available in constructing cosmological models that will fit the observations. They make quite clear that homogeneity cannot be

Conditional logics play an important role in recent attempts to formulate theories of default reasoning. This paper investigates first-order conditional logic. We show that, as for first-order probabilistic logic, it is important not to confound statistical conditionals over the domain (such as ``most birds fly''), and subjective conditionals over po
