We report on an ongoing project to parametrize the Fixed-Point Dirac operator for massless quarks, using a very general construction which has arbitrarily many fermion offsets and gauge paths, the complete Clifford algebra and satisfies all required symmetries. Optimizing a specific construction with hypercubic fermion offsets, we present some preliminary re

Localization of Macroscopic Object Induced by the Factorization of Internal Adiabatic Motion
quant-phC. P. Sun, X. F. liu, D. L. Zhou, S. X. Yu
To account for the phenomenon of quantum decoherence of a macroscopic object, such as the localization and disappearance of interference, we invoke the adiabatic quantum entanglement between its collective states(such as that of the center-of-mass (C.M)) and its inner states based on our recent investigation. Under the adiabatic limit that motion of C.M dose

In this paper we provide an explicit parameterization of arbitrary unitary transformation acting on n qubits, in terms of one and two qubit quantum gates. The construction is based on successive Cartan decompositions of the semi-simple Lie group, SU(2^n). Transverse redshift effects are sometimes presented as being unique to special relativity (the "transverse Doppler effect"). We argue that if the detector is aimed at 90 degrees in the laboratory frame, most theories will predict a redshifted frequency at the detector, although these predictions can be concealed by specifying that angles should be de

We show that the oscillators on a sphere and pseudosphere are related, by the so-called Bohlin transformation, with the Coulomb systems on the pseudosphere: the even states of an oscillator yields the conventional Coulomb system on pseudosphere, while the odd states yield the Coulomb system on pseudosphere in the presence of magnetic flux tube generating hal

The author has previously extended the theory of regular and irregular primes to the setting of arbitrary totally real number fields. The presence of a constant background antisymmetric tensor for open strings or D-branes forces the space-time coordinates to be noncommutative. An immediate consequence of this is that all fields get complexified. By applying this idea to gravity one discovers that the metric becomes complex. Complex gravity is constructed by gauging the symmetry $U(1,D-1)$.

We argue that the total observable entropy is bounded by the inverse of the cosmological constant. This holds for all space-times with a positive cosmological constant, including cosmologies dominated by ordinary matter, and recollapsing universes. The argument involves intermediate steps which may be of interest in their own right. We note that entropy cann
A Lorentz-invariant look at quantum clock synchronization protocols based on distributed entanglement
quant-phUlvi Yurtsever, Jonathan P. Dowling
Recent work has raised the possibility that quantum information theory techniques can be used to synchronize atomic clocks nonlocally. One of the proposed algorithms for quantum clock synchronization (QCS) requires distribution of entangled pure singlets to the synchronizing parties. Such remote entanglement distribution normally creates a relative phase err

We study separability properties in a 5-dimensional set of states of quantum systems composed of three subsystems of equal but arbitrary finite Hilbert space dimension d. These are the states, which can be written as linear combinations of permutation operators, or, equivalently, commute with unitaries of the form UxUxU. We compute explicitly the following s

A version of the Dirac equation is derived from first principles using a combination of quaternions and multivariate 4-vectors. The nilpotent form of the operators used allows us to derive explicit expressions for the wavefunctions of free fermions, vector bosons, scalar bosons; Bose-Einstein condensates, and baryons;annihilation, creation and vacuum operato

Brief review is given of my recent results on solvable models within the so called PT symmetric version of quantum mechanics.
Quantum Fluctuations of the Gravitational Field and Propagation of Light: a Heuristic Approach
physics.gen-phStefano Ansoldi, Edoardo Milotti
Quantum gravity is quite elusive at the experimental level; thus a lot of interest has been raised by recent searches for quantum gravity effects in the propagation of light from distant sources, like gamma ray bursters and active galactic nuclei, and also in earth-based interferometers, like those used for gravitational wave detection. Here we describe a si

In paper I (physics/0010068) entitled "The No-sticking Effect in Ultra-cold Collisions", we showed that under very general circumstances, atoms approaching a surface will not stick as its incoming energy approaches zero. This is true of either warm or cold surfaces. Here we explore the transition region from non sticking to sticking as energy is incr

We provide the theoretical basis for understanding the phenomenon in which an ultra cold atom incident on a possibly warm target will not stick, even in the large $n$ limit where $n$ is the number of internal degrees of freedom of the target. Our treatment is non-perturbative in which the full many-body problem is viewed as a scattering event purely within t

Using the ETFSI (extended Thomas-Fermi plus Strutinsky integral) method, we have calculated the fission barriers of nearly 2000 exotic nuclei, including all the neutron-rich nuclei up to A=318 that are expected to be relevant to the r-process, and all the superheavy nuclei in the vicinity of N=184, with Z<=120. Our calculations were performed with the Skyrme

We propose a method to introduce Fock term contributions in relativistic models of fermions coupled to mesons, including self-interactions for the mesonic fields. We show that effects on equilibrium properties and on the dynamical response of the fermionic system can be consistently accounted for. Some implications on equilibrium properties of asymmetric nuc

We report on a microscopic calculation of n-3H and p-3He scattering employing the Argonne v_{18} and v_8' nucleon-nucleon potentials with and without additional three-nucleon force. An R-matrix analysis of the p-3He and n-3H scattering data is presented. Comparisons are made for the phase shifts and a selection of measurements in both scattering systems.

We present the final results from Experiment 864 of a search for charged and neutral strange quark matter produced in interactions of 11.5 GeV/c per nucleon Au beams with Pt or Pb targets. Searches were made for strange quark matter with A>4. Approximately 30 billion 10% most central collisions were sampled and no strangelet states with A<100 were observed.
