This paper, the second of a series, deals with the function space of all smooth Kähler metrics in any given closed complex manifold $M$ in a fixed cohomology class. The previous result of the second author \cite{chen991} showed that the space is a path length space and it is geodesically convex in the sense that any two points are joined by a unique path, wh

High frequency limit for most of wave phenomena is known as quasiclassical limit or ray optics limit. Propagation of waves in this limit is described in terms of wave fronts and rays. Wave front is a surface of constant phase whose points are moving along rays. As it appears, their motion can be described by Hamilton equations being special case for Newton&#

Using sigma-model approach, we study a class of coset spaces with torsion which compactify the D=26 closed bose-string theory. Requiring also that massless chiral fermions arise from the geometry/topology of coset space, we are left with the unique possibility: it implies D=14 subcritical dimensions and the isometry group G_2 X G_2.

In particular, the impact of inseparable leaves is considered. Here, we suppose that the foliation can be reduced to a graph; we also discuss obstructions for this assumption. The properties

A detailed analysis of collective modes that couple to either vector or axial color currents in color-flavor locked phase of color superconducting dense quark matter at finite temperature is presented. Among the realm of collective modes, including the plasmons and the Nambu-Goldstone bosons, we also reveal the gapless Carlson-Goldman modes, resembling the s

We investigate the phase structure of dense QCD using the Schwinger-Dyson equation (SDE) with the improved ladder approximation in the Landau gauge. We use the gluon propagator with the electric mode corrected by Debye screening and the magnetic mode corrected by Landau damping. We solve the coupled SDE for the Majorana masses of the quark and antiquark (sep

The so-called renormalization group (RG) method is applied to derive kinetic and transport equations from the respective microscopic equations. The derived equations include Boltzmann equation in classical mechanics, Fokker-Planck equation, a rate equation in a quantum field theoretical model. Utilizing the formulation of the RG method which elucidates the i

We calculate conformal anomalies in noncommutative gauge theories by using the path integral method (Fujikawa's method). Along with the axial anomalies and chiral gauge anomalies, conformal anomalies take the form of the straightforward Moyal deformation in the corresponding conformal anomalies in ordinary gauge theories. However, the Moyal star product
The Origin of the Electromagnetic Interaction in Einstein's Unified Field Theory with Sources

Einstein's unified field theory is extended by the addition of matter terms in the form of a symmetric energy tensor and of two conserved currents. From the field equations and from the conservation identities emerges the picture of a gravoelectrodynamics in a dynamically polarizable Riemannian continuum. Through an approximate calculation exploiting thi

We show that the generating functions of avalanche observables in SOC models exhibits a Lee-Yang phenomenon. This establishes a new link between the classical theory of critical phenomena and SOC. A scaling theory of the Lee-Yang zeroes is proposed including finite sampling effects.

We examine the spectrum and boundary energy in boundary sine-Gordon theory, based on our recent results on the complete spectrum predicted by closing the boundary bootstrap. We check the spectrum and the reflection factors against truncated conformal space, together with a (still unpublished) prediction by Al.B. Zamolodchikov for the boundary energy and the

We have investigated the nonlinear surface impedance and two-tone intermodulation distortion of nine epitaxial YBa2Cu3O7-d films on MgO substrates, using stripline resonators, at frequencies f=2.3-11.2GHz and temperatures T=1.7K-Tc. The power dissipation decreased by up to one order of magnitude as the microwave electric field was increased to about 100V/m f

We consider multiplet shortening for BPS solitons in N=1 two-dimensional models. Examples of the single-state multiplets were established previously in N=1 Landau-Ginzburg models. The shortening comes at a price of loosing the fermion parity $(-1)^F$ due to boundary effects. This implies the disappearance of the boson-fermion classification resulting in abno

The strong longitudinal expansion of the reaction zone formed in relativistic heavy-ion collisions is found to significantly reduce the spatially averaged pion phase-space density, compared to naive estimates based on thermal distributions. This has important implications for data interpretation and leads to larger values for the extracted pion chemical pote

We report on an experiment demonstrating the conservation of orbital angular momentum in stimulated down-conversion. The orbital angular momentum is not transferred to the individual beams of the spontaneous down-conversion, but it is conserved when twin photons are taken individually. We observe the conservation law for an individual beam of the down-conver

Considering a kicked rotor coupled to a model heat bath both the classical and quantum entropy productions are calculated exactly. Starting with an initial wave packet, the von Neuman entropy as a function of time is determined from the reduced density matrix while the Liouville evolution of the corresponding Husimi distribution provides us with the classica

The Stokes-parameter operators and the associated Poincare sphere, which describe the quantum-optical polarization properties of light, are defined and their basic properties are reviewed. The general features of the Stokes operators are illustrated by evaluation of their means and variances for a range of simple polarization states. Some of the examples sho

Generalized Continuity Equation and Modified Normalization in PT-Symmetric Quantum Mechanics
quant-phB. Bagchi, C. Quesne, M. Znojil
The continuity equation relating the change in time of the position probability density to the gradient of the probability current density is generalized to PT-symmetric quantum mechanics. The normalization condition of eigenfunctions is modified in accordance with this new conservation law and illustrated with some detailed examples.

We investigate the Goldreich-Levin Theorem in the context of quantum information. This result is a reduction from the computational problem of inverting a one-way function to the problem of predicting a particular bit associated with that function. We show that the quantum version of the reduction -- between quantum one-way functions and quantum hard-predica

The correction to Maxwell-Boltzmann's velocity distribution law is obtained in the framework of the modified special relativity theory. The detection of velocity and velocity rate distributions for thermal molecules or atoms or other particles can serve as a test of the modified special relativity theory.
Modification of special relativity and local structures of gravity-free space and time

Besides two fundamental postulates, (i) the principle of relativity and (ii) the constancy of the speed of light in all inertial frames of reference, special relativity uses the assumption about the Euclidean structures of gravity-free space and time in the usual inertial coordinate system. Introducing the so-called primed inertial coordinate system, in addi

We investigate the self-phase modulation of intense femtosecond laser pulses propagating in an ionizing gas and its effects on collective properties of high-order harmonics generated in the medium. Plasmas produced in the medium are shown to induce a positive frequency chirp on the leading edge of the propagating laser pulse, which subsequently drives high h

RF processing studies of 1.8-m X-band (11.4 GHz) traveling wave structures at the Next Linear Collider Test Accelerator (NLCTA) have revealed breakdown-related damage at gradients lower than expected from earlier tests with standing wave and shorter, lower group velocity traveling wave structures. To understand this difference, a series of structures with di

A method for determination of atomic dipole matrix elements of principal transitions from the value of dispersion coefficient C_6 of molecular potentials correlating to two ground-state atoms is proposed. The method is illustrated on atomic Cs using C_6 deduced from high-resolution Feshbach spectroscopy. The following reduced matrix elements are determined <
