In the present paper we summarize our results on the structure function g_1 and present explicit expressions for the non-singlet and singlet components of g_1 which can be used at arbitrary x and Q^2. Quark clustering could occur in cold quark matter because of the strong coupling between quarks at realistic baryon densities of compact stars. Although one may still not be able to calculate this conjectured matter from first principles, the inter-cluster interaction might be analogized to the interaction between inert molecules. Cold quark matter would the

The dual quantum group for the quantum group analogue of the normalizer of SU(1,1) in SL(2,C)
math.QAWolter Groenevelt, Erik Koelink, Johan Kustermans
The quantum group analogue of the normalizer of SU(1,1) in SL(2,C) is an important and non-trivial example of a non-compact quantum group. The general theory of locally compact quantum groups in the operator algebra setting implies the existence of the dual quantum group. The first main goal of the paper is to give an explicit description of the dual quantum

We present a curvaton model from type IIB string theory compactified on a warped throat with approximate isometries. Considering an (anti-)D3-brane sitting at the throat tip as a prototype standard model brane, we show that the brane's position in the isometry directions can play the role of curvatons. All-optical pump-and-probe detection of dynamical correlations in a two-dimensional Fermi gas

We propose an all-optical scheme to probe the dynamical correlations of a strongly-interacting gas of ultracold atoms. The proposed technique is based on a pump-and-probe scheme: a coherent light pulse is initially converted into an atomic coherence and later retrieved after a variable storage time. The hadronic freeze-out line is calculated in terms of the net baryon density and the energy density instead of the usual T and mu_B. This analysis makes it apparent that the freeze-out density exhibits a maximum as the collision energy is decreased. This maximum freeze-out density is well within the parameters of the proposed NICA accelerator.

We realize a deterministic single-photon source from one and the same calcium ion interacting with a high-finesse optical cavity. Photons are created in the cavity with efficiency (88 +- 17)%, a tenfold improvement over previous cavity-ion sources. Results of the second-order correlation function are presented, demonstrating a high suppression of two-photon
The return map for a planar vector field with nilpotent linear part: a direct and explicit derivation
math.CARodica D. Costin
Using a direct approach the return map near a focus of a planar vector field with nilpotent linear part is found as a convergent power series which is a perturbation of the identity and whose terms can be calculated iteratively. The first nontrivial coefficient is the value of an Abelian integral, and the following ones are explicitly given as iterated integ

Bilayer graphene (BLG) has recently attracted a great deal of attention because of its electrically tunable energy gaps and its unusual electronic structure. In this Letter we present analytical and semi-analytical expressions, based on the four-band continuum model, for the layer-sum and layer-difference density response functions of neutral and doped BLG.

Our aim in this paper is to analyse the phenotypic effects (evolvability) of diverse coding conversion operators in an instance of the states based evolutionary algorithm (SEA). Since the representation of solutions or the selection of the best encoding during the optimization process has been proved to be very important for the efficiency of evolutionary al

We give a procedure for counting the number of different proofs of a formula in various sorts of propositional logic. This number is either an integer (that may be 0 if the formula is not provable) or infinite.

AIMS Our aim is to characterize the size, mass, density and temperature profiles of the protostellar envelope of HH~46 IRS 1 and its surrounding cloud material as well as the effect the outflow has on its environment.METHODS The CHAMP+ and LABOCA arrays on the APEX telescope, combined with lower frequency line receivers, are used to obtain a large continuum
From electronic structure to catalytic activity: A single descriptor for adsorption and reactivity on transition-metal carbides

Adsorption and catalytic properties of the polar (111) surface of transition-metal carbides (TMC's) are investigated by density-functional theory. Atomic and molecular adsorption are rationalized with the concerted-coupling model, in which two types of TMC surface resonances (SR's) play key roles. The transition-metal derived SR is found to be a sing

The high computational cost of carrying out molecular dynamics simulations of even small-size proteins is a major obstacle in the study, at atomic detail and in explicit solvent, of the physical mechanism which is at the basis of the folding of proteins. Making use of a biasing algorithm, based on the principle of the ratchet-and-pawl, we have been able to c

The necessity of the fourth family follows from the SM basics. According to flavor democracy the Dirac masses of the fourth SM family fermions are almost equal with preferable value 450 GeV, which corresponds to common (for all fundamental fermions) Yukawa coupling equal to SU(2) gauge coupling gW. In principle, one expect u4 a little bit lighter than d4, wh

We explore the quantum dynamics of heteronuclear atomic collisions in waveguides and demonstrate the existence of a novel mechanism for the resonant formation of polar molecules. The molecular formation probabilities can be tuned by changing the trap frequencies characterizing the transverse modes of the atomic species. The origin of this effect is the confi
The quasineutral limit of compressible Navier-Stokes-Poisson system with heat conductivity and general initial data
math.APQiangchang Ju, Fucai Li, Hailiang Li
The quasineutral limit of compressible Navier-Stokes-Poisson system with heat conductivity and general (ill-prepared) initial data is rigorously proved in this paper. It is proved that, as the Debye length tends to zero, the solution of the compressible Navier-Stokes-Poisson system converges strongly to the strong solution of the incompressible Navier-Stokes
Rotational and vibrational diatomic molecule in the Klein-Gordon equation with hyperbolic scalar and vector potentials
quant-phSameer M. Ikhdair
We present an approximate analytic solution of the Klein-Gordon equation in the presence of equal scalar and vector generalized deformed hyperbolic potential functions by means of parameteric generalization of the Nikiforov-Uvarov method. We obtain the approximate bound state rotational-vibrational (ro-vibrational) energy levels and the corresponding normali
Designing a Bayesian Network for Preventive Maintenance from Expert Opinions in a Rapid and Reliable Way
stat.MEGilles Celeux, Franck Corset, A. Lannoy, Benoit Ricard
In this study, a Bayesian Network (BN) is considered to represent a nuclear plant mechanical system degradation. It describes a causal representation of the phenomena involved in the degradation process. Inference from such a BN needs to specify a great number of marginal and conditional probabilities. As, in the present context, information is based essenti

This paper deals with the location of the complex zeros of the Tutte polynomial for a class of self-dual graphs. For this class of graphs, as the form of the eigenvalues is known, the regions of the complex plane can be focused on the sets where there is only one dominant eigenvalue in particular containing the positive half plane. Thus, in these regions, th

In this paper, the author proposes a numerical method to solve a parabolic system of two quasilinear equations of nonlinear heat conduction with sources. The solution of this system may blow up in finite time. It is proved that the numerical solution also may blow up in finite time and an estimate of this time is obtained. The convergence of the scheme is ob
