We address the problem if the early thermalization and HBT puzzles in relativistic heavy-ion collisions may be solved by the assumption that the early dynamics of the produced matter is locally anisotropic. The hybrid model describing the purely transverse hydrodynamic evolution followed by the perfect-fluid hydrodynamic stage is constructed. The transition

Flavor Transition Mechanisms of Propagating Astrophysical Neutrinos -A Model Independent Parametrization

One of the important goals for future neutrino telescopes is to identify the flavors of astrophysical neutrinos and therefore determine the flavor ratio. The flavor ratio of astrophysical neutrinos observed on the Earth depends on both the initial flavor ratio at the source and flavor transitions taking place during propagations of these neutrinos. Our recently reported spin and angular resolved photoemission (SARPES) results on an epitaxial graphene monolayer on SiC(0001) suggested the presence of a large Rashba-type spin splitting of Δk=(0.030+-0.005)1/A [1]. The efficient estimation of frequency moments of a data stream in one-pass using limited space and time per item is one of the most fundamental problem in data stream processing. An especially important estimation is to find the number of distinct elements in a data stream, which is generally referred to as the zeroth frequency moment and denoted by $F_0$. I

Pseudo-Dirac Dark Matter is a viable type of dark matter which originates from a new Dirac fermion whose two Weyl states get slightly split in mass by a small Majorana term. The decay of the heavier to the lighter state naturally occurs over a detectable length scale. Thus, whenever pseudo-Dirac Dark Matter is produced in a collider, it leaves a clear trace:

Context. The energy balance of cataclysmic variables with strong magnetic fields is a central subject in understanding accretion processes on magnetic white dwarfs. With XMM-Newton, we perform a spectroscopic and photometric study of soft X-ray selected polars during their high states of accretion. Aims. On the basis of X-ray and optical observations of the
Atmospheric turbulence in phase-referenced and wide-field interferometric images: Application to the SKA
astro-ph.IMI. Marti-Vidal, J. C. Guirado, S. Jimenez-Monferrer, J. M. Marcaide
Phase referencing is a standard calibration procedure in radio interferometry. It allows to detect weak sources by using quasi-simultaneous observations of closeby sources acting as calibrators. Therefore, it is assumed that, for each antenna, the optical paths of the signals from both sources are similar. However, atmospheric turbulence may introduce strong
Autocorrelations of the characteristic polynomial of a random matrix under microscopic scaling
math.PRRowan Killip, Eric Ryckman
We calculate the autocorrelation function for the characteristic polynomial of a random matrix in the microscopic scaling regime. While results fitting this description have be proved before, we will cover all values of inverse temperature $β\in (0,\infty)$. The method also differs from prior work, relying on matrix models introduced by Killip and Nenciu.
A class of linear solvers built on the Biconjugate A-Orthonormalization Procedure for solving unsymmetric linear systems
math.NAB. Carpentieri, Y. -F. Jing, T. -Z. Huang, Y. Duan
We present economical iterative algorithms built on the Biconjugate $A$-Orthonormalization Procedure for real unsymmetric and complex non-Hermitian systems. The principal characteristics of the developed solvers is that they are fast convergent and cheap in memory. We report on a large combination of numerical experiments to demonstrate that the proposed fam

Entropy and the fluctuation-dissipation theorem are at the heart of statistical mechanics near equilibrium. Driving a system beyond the linear response regime leads to (i) the breakdown of the fluctuation-dissipation theorem and (ii) a nonzero entropy production rate. We show how both phenomena are related using the general framework of stochastic thermodyna

In "Frobenius Categories versus Brauer Blocks", Progress in Math. 274, we introduce the Frobenius P-categories giving two quite different definitions of them. In this paper, we exhibit a third equivalent definition based on the form of the old Alperin Fusion Theorem; this theorem can be reformulated in our abstract setting, and ultimately depends on

The most important characteristic of {\em multiplicative noise} is that its effects of system's dynamics depends on the recent system's state. Consideration of multiplicative noise on self-referential systems including biological and economical systems therefore is of importance. In this note we study an elementary example. While in a deterministic s

In this paper we discuss two approximate methods previously suggested for modeling hyperfine spectral line emission for molecules whose collisional transitions rates between hyperfine levels are unknown. Hyperfine structure is seen in the rotational spectra of many commonly observed molecules such as HCN, HNC, NH3, N2H+, and C17O. The intensities of these sp

Temperature-dependent Raman spectra of TbMnO$_3$ from 5 K to 300 K in the spectral range of 200 to 1525 cm$^{-1}$ show five first-order Raman allowed modes and two high frequency modes. The intensity ratio of the high frequency Raman band to the corresponding first order Raman mode is nearly constant and high ($\sim$ 0.6) at all temperatures, suggesting a or

In "Frobenius Categories versus Brauer Blocks", Progress in Math. 274, we have introduced the Frobenius categories F over a finite p-group P, and we have associated to F - suitably endowed with some central k*-extensions - a "Grothendieck group" as an inverse limit of Grothendieck groups of categories of modules in characteristic p obtained f

Complex information extraction (IE) pipelines assembled by plumbing together off-the-shelf operators, specially customized operators, and operators re-used from other text processing pipelines are becoming an integral component of most text processing frameworks. A critical task faced by the IE pipeline user is to run a post-mortem analysis on the output. Du

There are normal sub-blocks of nilpotent blocks which are NOT nilpotent or, equivalently, nilpotent extensions of non-nilpotent blocks. In this paper we determine the source algebra structure of the non-nilpotent blocks involved in these situations. Actually, we introduce a new type of blocks - called the inertial blocks - which include the nilpotent blocks
Anomalous Raman scattering from phonons and electrons of superconducting FeSe$_{0.82}$
cond-mat.supr-conPradeep Kumar, Anil Kumar, Surajit Saha, D. V. S. Muthu
We report interesting anomalies in the temperature dependent Raman spectra of FeSe$_{0.82}$ measured from 3K to 300K in the spectral range from 60 to 1800 cm$^{-1}$ and determine their origin using complementary first-principles density functional calculations. A phonon mode near 100 cm$^{-1}$ exhibits a sharp increase by $\sim$ 5% in frequency below a tempe

A holonomic space $(V,H,L)$ is a normed vector space, $V$, a subgroup, $H$, of $Aut(V, \|\cdot\|)$ and a group-norm, $L$, with a convexity property. We prove that with the metric $d_L(u,v)=\inf_{a\in H}\{\sqrt{L^2(a)+\|u-av\|^2}\}$, $V$ is a metric space which is locally isometric to a Euclidean ball. Given a Sasaki-type metric on a vector bundle $E$ over a

We find a new charged black hole in three-dimensional anti-de Sitter space using an anisotropic perfect fluid inspired by the noncommutative black hole as the source of matter and a gaussian distribution of electric charge. We deduce the thermodynamical quantities of this black hole and compare them with those of a charged BTZ solution.

We show that the correlation functions of ghosts and gluons for the pure Yang-Mills theory in Landau gauge can be accurately reproduced for all momenta by a one-loop calculation. The key point is to use a massive extension of the Faddeev-Popov action. The agreement with lattice simulation is excellent in d=4. The one-loop calculation also reproduces all the
