The Curci-Ferrari (CF)-type of restriction emerges in the description of a free spinning relativistic particle within the framework of Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) formalism when the off-shell nilpotent and absolutely anticommuting (anti-)BRST symmetry transformations for this system are derived from the application of horizontality condition (HC) and it

Quantum adiabatic processes -that keep constant the populations in the instantaneous eigenbasis of a time-dependent Hamiltonian- are very useful to prepare and manipulate states, but take typically a long time. This is often problematic because decoherence and noise may spoil the desired final state, or because some applications require many repetitions.

We study potential operators (Riesz and Bessel potentials) associated with classical Jacobi and Fourier-Bessel expansions. We prove sharp estimates for the corresponding potential kernels. Then we characterize those $1 \le p,q \le \infty$, for which the potential operators are of strong type $(p,q)$, of weak type $(p,q)$ and of restricted weak type $(p,q)$.

We realize noncommutative phase spaces as coadjoint orbits of extensions of the Aristotle group in a two-dimensional space. Through these constructions the momenta of the phase spaces do not commute due to the presence of a naturally introduced magnetic field. These cases correspond to the minimal coupling of the momentum with a magnetic potential.

For any system, whether physical or non-physical, knowledge of the form and strength of inter-individual interactions is a key-information. In an approach based on statistical physics one needs to know the interaction Hamiltonian. For non-physical systems, based on qualitative arguments similar to those used in physical chemistry, interaction strength gives

Let $B$ be a bi-fractional Brownian motion with indices $H\in (0,1),K\in (0,1]$, $2HK=1$ and let ${\mathscr L}(x,t)$ be its local time process. We construct a Banach space ${\mathscr H}$ of measurable functions such that the quadratic covariation $[f(B),B]$ and the integral $\int_{\mathbb R}f(x){\mathscr L}(dx,t)$ exist provided $f\in {\mathscr H}$. Moreover

The paper proposes a possible mechanism of interaction of microwaves with superfluid helium that results in an experimentally observed narrow peak of microwave absorption on the frequencies by the order of the roton frequency. The obtained microwave photon absorption coefficient depends on the local equilibrium distribution function which is established due

The structure of 29-dimensional extended real Clifford-Dirac algebra, which has been introduced in our paper Phys. Lett. A, 2011, 375, 2479, is considered in brief. Using this algebra, the property of Fermi-Bose duality of the Dirac equation with nonzero mass is proved. It means that Dirac equation can describe not only the fermionic but also the bosonic sta

We present a brief review of CPV and mixing measurements in the charm sector, with emphasys in results published or presented since the previous edition of the Physics in Collision Symposia.

In this paper the representation of $A_{\kk}(2)$ algebra given by Daoud and Kibler [M.Daoud and M.Kibler, J.Phys.A 43 115303 (2010), 45 244036 (2012)] is investigated. It is shown that the new generators are necessary for consistency of the algebra. The multi-mode extension of $A_{\kk}(2)$ algebra, which is called $A_{\kk}(d)$ algebra, is also obtained. The

Here I am proposing a translation and discussion of the De Colore, one of the short scientific treatises written by Robert Grosseteste. In this very short treatise of the mid-1220s, Grosseteste continued the discussion on light and colours he started in the De Iride. He describes two manners of counting colours: one gives an infinity of tones, the other coun

Different techniques to speed up quantum adiabatic processes are currently being explored for applications in atomic, molecular and optical physics, such as transport, cooling and expansions, wavepacket splitting, or internal state control. Here we examine the capabilities of superadiabatic iterations to produce a sequence of shortcuts to adiabaticity. The g

The main purpose of this short note is to present an adaptation of the multilinear Bellman function technique from [4] to the time-frequency analysis. Demeter and Thiele introduced the two-dimensional bilinear Hilbert transform in [3] and showed that the Carleson operator can be identified in particular instances of the corresponding trilinear form. Demeter

We present preliminary results of a new approach to the study of the pion-pion system in the I=1 channel. The Bethe-Salpeter wave function of the two-pion system is computed on the ground state and the first excited state. From these, we attempt to extract an interaction kernel (potential) which can then be used to extract observables such as the phase shift
Molecular dynamics simulations with many-body potentials on multiple GPUs - the implementation, package and performance

Molecular dynamics (MD) is an important research tool extensively applied in materials science. Running MD on a graphics processing unit (GPU) is an attractive new approach for accelerating MD simulations. Currently, GPU implementations of MD usually run in a one-host-process-one-GPU (OHPOG) scheme. This scheme may pose a limitation on the system size that a
Modeling collective human mobility: Understanding exponential law of intra-urban movement
physics.soc-phXiao Liang, Jichang Zhao, Li Dong, Ke Xu
It is very important to understand urban mobility patterns because most trips are concentrated in urban areas. In the paper, a new model is proposed to model collective human mobility in urban areas. The model can be applied to predict individual flows not only in intra-city but also in countries or a larger range. Based on the model, it can be concluded tha
