QDMin: Coherent Quantum Minimum Finding for Nuclear Deformation Landscapes
Abhishek, P. Arumugam
Abstract
Locating the minimum of a nuclear collective landscape can require many interacting many-body calculations. QDMin (Quantum Deformation Minimum Finding) searches a parameterized Hamiltonian family with a coherent collective-coordinate register and an on-demand ground-energy threshold oracle. The oracle supplies the predicate required for quantum minimum-finding without first constructing the energy landscape point by point. We implement it for a schematic pairing-plus-multipole model using circuit-generated energy estimates during the search. In a four-point calculation, one Grover round raises the probability of the true minimum from 0.25 to 0.921. A 4×4 quadrupole--octupole-field calculation extends the complete circuit to two coordinates, although its minimum is first sampled in a round with zero Grover iterations. Its worst-case branch-preparation fidelity of 0.744 falls below the declared target, identifying coherent ground-state access as the current bottleneck. QDMin inherits expected O(Nq) candidate-query scaling in the unstructured model; total advantage depends on the many-body oracle cost and remains unestablished.
