Non-Invertible Charges for M-Theory

Abstract
The gauge charges of M-theory M2 and M5 branes almost resemble the charges of a 6-group. The charges of such a 6-group are expected to be modeled by operators with non-invertible fusion. We here consider non-invertible charge defects for continuous 2-groups and 6-groups, aiming to capture the gauge charges of M2 and M5 branes. We find a model for charges of a "pseudo 6-group" G which possesses remarkable similarities with known features of M2 and M5 branes, including: Hanany-Witten moves, the aN-1 charges, higher-form symmetry, and singleton decomposition of M5-brane worldvolume theories, and couplings of M5/anti-M5 states.
