Monte Carlo Study of the 3D Thirring Model
Abstract
I review three different non-perturbative approaches to the three dimensional Thirring model: the 1/Nf expansion, Schwinger-Dyson equations, and Monte Carlo simulation. Simulation results are presented to support the existence of a non-perturbative fixed point at a chiral symmetry breaking phase transition for Nf=2 and 4, but not for Nf=6. Spectrum calculations for Nf=2 reveal conventional level ordering near the transition.
