The position of the degree scale feature in the CMB spectrum is determined within the framework of the fractal universe with a power index of 2.

We suggest a new method of estimating distances to X-ray pulsars and their magnetic fields. Using observations of fluxes and period variations in the model of disk accretion one can estimate the magnetic momentum of a neutron star and the distance to X-ray pulsar. As an illustration the method is applied to the system GROJ1008-57. Estimates of the distance:

I review the observational evidence for luminous, soft X-ray emission during optical low-states in the two cataclysmic variables V751 Cyg and V Sge, and discuss the possible link to the canonical supersoft X-ray sources.
The Planck-LFI instrument: analysis of the 1/f noise and implications for the scanning strategy

We study the impact of the 1/f noise on the PLANCK Low Frequency Instrument (LFI) osbervations (Mandolesi et al 1998) and describe a simple method for removing striping effects from the maps for a number of different scanning stategies. A configuration with an angle between telescope optical axis and spin-axis just less than 90 degrees (namely 85 degress) sh

In the attempt to shed new light on the lambda Boo phenomenon we analyzed the astrometric, photometric and spectroscopic characteristics of stars out of a list of recently selected lambda Boo candidates. We show that the class is still ill-defined and discuss the possibility that some, if not most stars presently classified as lambda Boo, are in fact binary

Primary inversions of solar oscillation frequencies coupled with the equations of thermal equilibrium and other input physics, enable us to infer the temperature and hydrogen abundance profiles inside the Sun. These profiles also help in setting constraints on the input physics that is consistent with the accurately measured oscillation frequencies data. Hel

A continuous photometric study of 12 novae was carried out for more than 365 nights during the past 4 years at the Wise Observatory in a motivation to extend our knowledge on these systems. Main results: we found observational evidence for the early presence of the accretion disc in Nova V1974 Cyg 1992 (permanent superhumps) and probably also in Nova V1425 A

We investigate Hoyle-Lyttleton accretion for the case where the central source is a luminous accretion disk. %In classical Hoyle-Lyttleton accretion onto a ``spherical'' source, accretion takes place in an axially symmetric manner around a so-called accretion axis. The accretion rate of the classical Hoyle-Lyttleton accretion onto a non-luminous obje

Astrophysical and cosmological consequences of a standard $ν_τ$ of (15 +- 3) keV/c^{2} mass are discussed in the light of the recent results of the solar, atmospheric and LSND neutrino experiments and theoretical prejudices.
Far Infrared Observations of the Galactic Star Forming Regions associated with IRAS 00338+6312 & RAFGL 5111
astro-phB. Mookerjea, S. K. Ghosh, A. D. Karnik, T. N. Rengarajan
Two Galactic star forming regions, one in a very early phase of evolution and another evolved one, associated with the IRAS sources 00338+6312 and 03595+5110 (RAFGL 5111) respectively have been studied in detail. These sources have been mapped simultaneously in two far infrared bands at 143 & 185 \micron), with about 1.5 arcmin angular resolution, using the

We investigate when and how a dusty starburst galaxy merger can be heavily obscured by dust and consequently becomes an ultra-luminous infrared galaxy (ULIRG), based on numerical simulations of chemodynamical and photometric evolution of dusty gas-rich major galaxy mergers. We found that a major galaxy merger is more likely to become an ULIRG preferentially
