The 3-transposition groups that act on a vertex operator algebra in the way described by Miyamoto are classified under the assumption that the group is centerfree and the VOA carries a positive-definite invariant Hermitian form. This generalizes and refines the result of Kitazume and Miyamoto. Application to a similar but different situation is also consider

We review recent achievements in the solution of the initial-value problem for quantum back-reaction in scalar and spinor QED. The problem is formulated and solved in the semiclassical mean-field approximation for a homogeneous, time-dependent electric field. Our primary motivation in examining back-reaction has to do with applications to theoretical models

Spin-dependent transport in lateral periodic magnetic modulations: a novel scheme for spin filters

A novel scheme for spin filters is proposed by studying the coherent transport of electrons through the quantum wires with lateral magnetic modulations. Unlike other schemes in the literature, the modulation in our scheme is much weaker than the Fermi level. Large spin polarization through the filter is predicted. It is shown that Schrodinger dynamics can be embedded in a larger dynamical theory which extends its symmetry group from the unitary group to the full metaplectic group, i.e. the group of linear canonical transformations. Among the newly admitted non-unitary processes are analogues of the classical measurement process which makes it possible to treat the wav
Quantum Logic Networks for Probabilistic Teleportation of Many Particle State of General Form
quant-phTing Gao, Feng-Li Yan, Zhi-Xi Wang
The scheme for probabilistic teleportation of an N-particle state of general form is proposed. As the special cases we construct efficient quantum logic networks for implementing probabilistic teleportation of a two-particle state, a three-particle state and a four-particle state of general form, built from single qubit gates, two-qubit controlled-not gates,
Homogeneous and Scalable Gene Expression Regulatory Networks with Random Layouts of Switching Parameters
q-bio.MND. Volchenkov, R. Lima
We consider a model of large regulatory gene expression networks where the thresholds activating the sigmoidal interactions between genes and the signs of these interactions are shuffled randomly. Such an approach allows for a qualitative understanding of network dynamics in a lack of empirical data concerning the large genomes of living organisms. Local dyn
Comparation based bottom-up and top-down filtering model of the hippocampus and its environment
q-bio.NCA. Lorincz
Two rate code models -- a reconstruction network model and a control model -- of the hippocampal-entorhinal loop are merged. The hippocampal-entorhinal loop plays a double role in the unified model, it is part of a reconstruction network and a controller, too. This double role turns the bottom-up information flow into top-down control like signals. The role
Dynamical Systems Basis of Metamorphosis: Diversity and Plasticity of Cellular States in Reaction Diffusion Network
q-bio.CBHiroaki Takagi, Kunihiko Kaneko
Dynamics maintaining diversity of cell types in a multi-cellular system are studied in relationship with the plasticity of cellular states. By adopting a simple theoretical framework for intra-cellular chemical reaction dynamics with considering the division and death of cells, developmental process from a single cell is studied. Cell differentiation process
Dosimetry characterization of $^{32}$P intravascular brachytherapy source wires using Monte Carlo codes PENELOPE and GEANT4
physics.med-phJavier Torres, Manuel J. Buades, Julio F. Almansa, Rafael Guerrero
Monte Carlo calculations using the codes PENELOPE and GEANT4 have been performed to characterize the dosimetric parameters of the new 20 mm long catheter based $^{32}$P beta source manufactured by Guidant Corporation. The dose distribution along the transverse axis and the two dimensional dose rate table have been calculated. Also, the dose rate at the refer

Results of molecular dynamics simulations of fission reactions $Na_{10}^{2+} \to Na_7^+ + Na_3^+$ and $Na_{18}^{2+} \to 2 Na_9^+$ are presented. Dependence of the fission barriers on isomer structure of the parent cluster is analyzed. It is demonstrated that the energy necessary for removing homothetic groups of atoms from the parent cluster is largely indep

In a lesson on holography a tension is to be found between the ray model, the wave model, the phasor model and the particle model. Lessons depend on the previous experiences of the students, the intentions of the teacher as well as on other parameters and therefore provide a diversity in emphasis while explaining holographic effects. As class discussion conc

A logical error in the usual derivation of the energy conservation law is analyzed, and a way to avoid the error is presented.

Motivated by recent experimental work by Folkenberg et al. we consider the effect of weak disorder in the air-hole lattice of small-core photonic crystal fibers. We find that the broken symmetry leads to higher-order modes which have generic intensity distributions resembling those found in standard fibers with elliptical cores. This explains why recently re

A simple model is proposed to examine the isotopic yields of the fragments from binary fission. For a given charge partition the peaks and widths in the isotope distributions are studied both with the liquid-drop model and with shell modifications. The basis for isoscaling is also explored. The symmetry energy plays a dominant role in both the distributions
Relativistic Green's function approach to charged-current neutrino-nucleus quasielastic scattering
nucl-thAndrea Meucci, Carlotta Giusti, Franco Davide Pacati
A relativistic Green's function approach to inclusive quasielastic charged-current neutrino-nucleus scattering is developed. The components of the hadron tensor are written in terms of the single-particle Green's function, which is expanded on the eigenfunctions of the nuclear optical potential, so that final state interactions are accounted for by m

A Green's function approach to the inclusive quasielastic ($e,e'$) scattering is presented. The components of the nuclear response are written in terms of the single-particle optical model Green's function. The explicit calculation of the Green's function can be avoided by its spectral representation, which is based on a biorthogonal expansio
