We consider the Poisson reduced space $(T^*Q)/K$ with respect to a cotangent lifted action. It is assumed that $K$ is a compact Lie group which acts by isometries on the Riemannian manifold $Q$ and that the action on $Q$ is of single isotropy type. Realizing $(T^*Q)/K$ as a Weinstein space we determine the induced Poisson structure and its symplectic leaves.

We study the k-core of a random (multi)graph on n vertices with a given degree sequence. We let n tend to infinity. Then, under some regularity conditions on the degree sequences, we give conditions on the asymptotic shape of the degree sequence that imply that with high probability the k-core is empty, and other conditions that imply that with high probabil

We apply methods from Malliavin calculus to prove an infinite-dimensional version of Hormander's theorem for stochastic evolution equations in the spirit of Da Prato-Zabczyk. Suppose that there are n bins, and balls arrive in a Poisson process at rate λn, where λ>0 is a constant. Upon arrival, each ball chooses a fixed number d of random bins, and is placed into one with least load. Balls have independent exponential lifetimes with unit mean. We discuss a notion of large complex structure for elliptic K3 surfaces with section inspired by the eight-dimensional F-theory/heterotic duality in string theory. Writing for a general mathematical audience, we provide elementary upper and lower bounds on the growth (as a function of N) of the sum \sum_{n=1}^N (-1)^{\floor{n x}} for various fixed x. Gravitational lensing effects arise from the light ray deflection by all of the mass distribution along the line of sight. It is then expected that weak lensing cluster surveys can provide us true mass-selected cluster samples. With numerical simulations, we analyze the correspondence between peaks in the lensing convergence $κ$-map and dark matter halos. Pa

We investigate the iron K$α$ fluorescent line produced by hard X-ray photons from magnetic reconnection-heated corona. The hot corona with temperature being about $10^9$K can irradiate the underlying disk with a continuum X-ray spectrum produced via thermal Comptonization. Then the iron atoms in the disk photoelectrically absorb X-ray photons and radiate K$α

One of the main endeavors of fundamental astrometry is to establish a practical realization of an inertial reference frame anchored to celestial objects whose positions are defined in the barycentric coordinates of the solar system. The development of astrometric facilities operating from space at a microarcsecond level of precision makes the non-uniformity

We present analysis from simultaneous FUSE, ASCA, and EUVE observations, as well as a reanalysis of archival HST spectra, from the extreme Narrow-line Seyfert 1 Galaxy RE 1034+39 (KUG 1031+398). RE 1034+39 has an unusually hard spectral energy distribution (SED) that peaks in the soft X-rays. Its emission lines are unusual in that they can all be modelled as

Using six high resolution dissipationless simulations with a varying box size in a flat LCDM universe, we study the mass and redshift dependence of dark matter halo shapes for M_vir = 9.0e11 - 2.0e14, over the redshift range z=0-3, and for two values of sigma_8=0.75 and 0.9. Remarkably, we find that the redshift, mass, and sigma_8 dependence of the mean smal

Using the astrometry of microlensing events we study the effect of angular momentum as compared to that of the parallax. For a rotating lens it is shown that the effect of the angular momentum deviates the center of images from that in the simple standard microlensing. This effect could be observed by future astrometry missions such as GAIA and SIM for lense

We study the relation between the mean effective surface temperature T_s and the internal temperature T_b for magnetic neutron stars, assuming that the magnetic field near the surface has a presumably small-scale structure. The heavy-element (iron) and light-element (accreted) heat-blanketing envelopes are considered, and the results are compared with the ca

Besides its various applications in string and D-brane physics, the $θ$-deformation of space (-time) coordinates (naively called the noncommutativity of coordinates), based on the $\star$-product, behaves as a more general framework providing more mathematical and physical informations about the associated system. Similarly to the Gelfand-Dickey framework of

We conduct a systematic search for anomaly-free six-dimensional N=1 chiral supergravity theories. Under a certain set of restrictions on the allowed gauge groups and the representations of the hypermultiplets, we enumerate all possible Poincare and gauged supergravities with one tensor multiplet satisfying the 6D anomaly cancellation criteria.

In this paper we use the Etingof-Kazhdan quantization of Lie bi-superalgebras to investigate some interesting questions related to Drinfeld-Jimbo type superalgebra associated to a Lie superalgebra of classical type. It has been shown that the D-J type superalgebra associated to a Lie superalgebra of type A-G, with the distinguished Cartan matrix, is isomorph

An arbitrarily reliable quantum computer can be efficiently constructed from noisy components using a recursive simulation procedure, provided that those components fail with probability less than the fault-tolerance threshold. Recent estimates of the threshold are near some experimentally achieved gate fidelities. However, the landscape of threshold estimat

Variability studies are an important tool to investigate key properties of stars and brown dwarfs. From photometric monitoring we are able to obtain information about rotation and magnetic activity, which are expected to change in the mass range below 0.3 solar masses, since these fully convective objects cannot host a solar-type dynamo. On the other hand, s

I review the development of numerical evolution codes for general relativity based upon the characteristic initial value problem. Progress is traced from the early stage of 1D feasibility studies to 2D axisymmetric codes that accurately simulate the oscillations and gravitational collapse of relativistic stars and to current 3D codes that provide pieces of a

In framework of statistical models, different particle ratios at energies ranging from $3.5 $ to $200 $GeV are calculated. Assuming that the particle production takes place along the freeze-out curve, we study the sharp peak in $K^+/\pi^+$ ratio observed at SPS energy. We study the responsibility of non-equilibrium quark occupancy of phase space $\gamma_i$ f

We suggest that coherent radiation may occur in relativistic collisionless shocks via two-stream Weibel instabilities. The coherence amplifies the radiation power by many orders [$\sim 10^{12}$ in Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs)] and particles cool very fast before being randomized. We imply (1) GRBs accompany strong infrared emission, (2) protons efficiently transf

The fixed points of a natural torus action on the Hilbert schemes of points in C^2 are quiver varieties of infinite type A. The equivariant cohomology of the Hilbert schemes and quiver varieties can be given the structure of bosonic and fermionic Fock spaces respectively. Then the localization theorem, which relates the equivariant cohomology of a space with

By analyzing the foreign exchange market data of various currencies, we derive a hierarchical taxonomy of currencies constructing minimal-spanning trees. Clustered structure of the currencies and the key currency in each cluster are found. The clusters match nicely with the geographical regions of corresponding countries in the world such as Asia or East Eur
