We investigate how entanglement can be transferred between continuous variable and qubit systems. We find that a two-mode squeezed vacuum state and a continuous variable Werner state can be converted to the product states of infinitive number of two-qubit states while keeping the entanglement. The reverse process is also possible.

An approximate method for calculating transfer integrals based on the ZINDO Hamiltonian
physics.chem-phJames Kirkpatrick
In this paper we discuss a method for calculating transfer integrals based on the ZINDO Hamiltonian which requires only a single self consistent field on an isolated molecule to be performed in order to determine the transfer integral for a pair of molecules. One of the interaction regions at the linear colliders should be compatible both with e+e- and gamma-gamma, gamma-electron modes of operation. In this paper, the differences in requirements and possible design solutions are discussed.
V. I. Telnov
At linear colliders, the e+e- luminosity is limited by beam-collision effects, which determine the required emittances of beams in damping rings (DRs). While in gamma-gamma collisions at the photon collider, these effects are absent, and so smaller emittances are desirable. In present damping rings designs, nominal DR parameters correspond to those required

We present a family of networks, expanded deterministic Apollonian networks, which are a generalization of the Apollonian networks and are simultaneously scale-free, small-world, and highly clustered. We introduce a labeling of their vertices that allows to determine a shortest path routing between any two vertices of the network based only on the labels.

Secondary circulations (SC) associated with hurricanes are traditionally regarded as small perturbations superimposed on the primary circulations (PC). In the model, a central region is formed by a semiconducting nanotube that acts as the conducting channel, surrounded by a thin oxide layer and a metal gate electrode. At both ends of the semiconducting channel, two semi-infinite metallic r

We consider the persistence and stability of dark solitons in the Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equation with a small decaying potential. We show that families of black solitons with zero speed originate from extremal points of an appropriately defined effective potential and persist for sufficiently small strength of the potential. We prove that families at the max

The existence of coherent quasiparticles near the Fermi energy in the low temperature state of high-temperature superconductors has been well established by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). This technique directly probes the momentum-resolved electronic excitation spectrum of the CuO$_2$ planes. We present a study of close to optimally dope

We consider a quasi one-dimensional configuration consisting of two small pieces of ferromagnetic material separated by a metallic one and contacted by two metallic leads. A spin-polarized current is injected from one lead. Our goal is to investigate the correlation induced between the magnetizations of the two ferromagnets by spin-transfer torque. This torq

Phase separated borosilicate glass samples were prepared by applying various heat treatments. Using selective chemical etching we performed AFM measurement on the phase separated glass surfaces. A quantitative roughness analysis allowed us to measure precisely the dependence of the characteristic size of the phase domains on heating time and temperature. The

We investigate the behaviour of a binary surfactant solution (AOT/water) as it is progressively concentrated in microfluidic evaporators. We observe in time a succession of phase transitions from a dilute solution up to a dense state, which eventually grows and invades the microchannels. Analyzing these observations, we show that, with a few experiments and

Using atomic force microscopy on silica and float glass surfaces, we give evidence that the roughness of melted glass surfaces can be quantitatively accounted for by frozen capillary waves. In this framework the height spatial correlations are shown to obey a logarithmic scaling law; the identification of this behaviour allows to estimate the ratio $kT\_F/πγ
