Supersymmetric renormalization group (RG) flow equations for the effective superpotential of the three-dimensional Wess-Zumino model are derived at zero and non-zero temperature. This model with fermions and bosons interacting via a Yukawa term possesses a supersymmetric analogue of the Wilson-Fisher fixed-point. At zero temperature we determine the phase-tr

Astronomical observations were used as a marker for time and the Calendar from ancient times. A more subtle calibration of epochs is thrown up by an observation of the position of the solstices and equinoxes, because these points shift in the sky with the years resulting in the gradual shift of celestial longitudes $λ$. Chronology based on such observations

Sampling-based motion planners are an effective means for generating collision-free motion paths. However, the quality of these motion paths (with respect to quality measures such as path length, clearance, smoothness or energy) is often notoriously low, especially in high-dimensional configuration spaces. We give a generalization of the well-known result of E. Cartan on isoparametric cubics by showing that a homogeneous cubic polynomial solution of the eiconal equation $|\nabla f|^2=9|x|^4$ must be rotationally equivalent to either $x_n^3-3x_n(x_1^2+...+x_{n-1}^2)$, or to one of four exceptional Cartan cubic polynomials in dimensions $n=5,8,14,26$.
Efficient numerical methods for computing ground states and dynamics of dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates
cond-mat.quant-gasWeizhua Bao, Yongyong Cai, Hanquan Wang
New efficient and accurate numerical methods are proposed to compute ground states and dynamics of dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) described by a three-dimensional (3D) Gross-Pitaevskii equation (GPE) with a dipolar interaction potential. Due to the high singularity in the dipolar interaction potential, it brings significant difficulties in mathemat

We study families of algebraic varieties parametrized by topological spaces and generalize some classical results such as Hilbert Nullstellensatz and primary decomposition of commutative rings. We show that there is an equivalence between the category of bivariant coherent sheaves and the category of sheaves of finitely generated modules.

A Quillen model structure on the category Gray-Cat of Gray-categories is described, for which the weak equivalences are the triequivalences. We discuss several points that may help to clarify some questions that remain about the anomaly puzzle in supersymmetric theories. In particular, we consider a general N=1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. In this talk we discuss the next-to-leading-order electroweak (EW) corrections to W-boson + jet hadroproduction [1] and compare the full result to a simple approximation assuming factorization of EW and QCD corrections for the charged-current Drell-Yan process. The W-boson resonance is treated consistently using the complex-mass scheme, and all off-shell eff

The problem of missing link prediction in complex networks has attracted much attention recently. Two difficulties in link prediction are the sparsity and huge size of the target networks. Therefore, the design of an efficient and effective method is of both theoretical interests and practical significance. In this Letter, we proposed a method based on local
The role of oxygen ions in the formation of a bifurcated current sheet in the magnetotail

Cluster observations in the near-Earth magnetotail have shown that sometimes the current sheet is bifurcated, i.e. it is divided in two layers. The influence of magnetic turbulence on ion motion in this region is investigated by numerical simulation, taking into account the presence of both protons and oxygen ions. The magnetotail current sheet is modeled as
Analysis of two-pathway coherent control for precision measurement of weak optical transitions

We present a new technique based on two-pathway optical coherent control for the sensitive detection and precise measurement of highly-forbidden transitions in atomic systems. Specifically, we show that ($ω$, 2$ω$) coherent control can be applied to the measurement of the magnetic dipole and electroweak parity nonconserving amplitudes in atomic cesium, with

We find the capacity region of linear finite-field deterministic networks with many sources and one destination. Nodes in the network are subject to interference and broadcast constraints, specified by the linear finite-field deterministic model. Each node can inject its own information as well as relay other nodes' information. We show that the capacity

Starting from a practical use of Reed-Solomon codes in a cryptographic scheme published in Indocrypt'09, this paper deals with the threshold of linear $q$-ary error-correcting codes. The security of this scheme is based on the intractability of polynomial reconstruction when there is too much noise in the vector. Our approach switches from this paradigm

Gamma-ray bursts, detected by the Swift satellite, are separated into two samples: the bursts with and without determined redshifts. These two samples are compared by the standard Student t-test and F-test. We have compared the dispersions and the mean values of the durations, peak fluxes and fluences in order to find any differences among these two samples.

Attributing a positive value τ_x to each x in Z^d, we investigate a nearest-neighbour random walk which is reversible for the measure with weights (τ_x), often known as "Bouchaud's trap model". We assume that these weights are independent, identically distributed and non-integrable random variables (with polynomial tail), and that d > 4. We obtai

Recall that a homomorphism of $R$-modules $π: G\to H$ is called a {\it cellular cover} over $H$ if $π$ induces an isomorphism $π_*: \Hom_R(G,G)\cong \Hom_R(G,H),$ where $π_*(φ)= πφ$ for each $φ\in \Hom_R(G,G)$ (where maps are acting on the left). In this paper we show that every cotorsion-free module $K$ of finite rank can be realized as the kernel of a cell

A sample of 286 gamma-ray bursts, detected by Swift satellite, is studied statistically by the chi^2 test and the Student t-test, respectively. The short and long subgroups are well detected in the Swift data. But no intermediate subgroup is seen. The non-detection of this subgroup in the Swift database can be explained, once it is assumed that in the BATSE

In the context of $f(R)$ gravity theories, the issue of finding static and spherically symmetric black hole solutions is addressed. Two approaches to study the existence of such solutions are considered: first, constant curvature solutions, and second, the general case (without imposing constant curvature) is also studied. Performing a perturbative expansion

In high energy nucleus-nucleus collisions, a transient state of thermalized, hot and dense matter governed by Quantum Chromodynamics is produced. Properties of this state are reflected in the bulk low transverse momentum (P_T) hadron production which represent the remnant of the collective medium as well as in modifications of so-called probes which are not
