We analyze a two qubit parity measurement based on dispersive read-out in circuit quantum electrodynamics. The back-action on the qubits has two qualitatively different contributions. One is an unavoidable dephasing in one of the parity subspaces, arising during the transient time of switching on the measurement. The other part is a stochastic rotation of th

We construct SU(N) irreducible Schwinger bosons satisfying certain U(N-1) constraints which implement the symmetries of SU(N) Young tableaues. As a result all SU(N) irreducible representations are simple monomials of $(N-1)$ types of SU(N) irreducible Schwinger bosons. Further, we show that these representations are free of multiplicity problems. Thus all SU

We propose in this paper a generic model of a non-standard aggregation mechanism for self-assembly processes of a class of materials involving the mediation of intermediates consisting of a polydisperse population of nano-sized particles. The model accounts for a long induction period in the process. The proposed mechanism also gives insight on future experi

We obtain many results and solve some problems about feebly compact paratopological groups. We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for such a group to be topological. One of them is the quasiregularity. We prove that each $2$-pseudocompact paratopological group is feebly compact and that each Hausdorff $\sigma$-compact feebly compact paratopological g

We prove that a continuum $X$ is tree-like (resp. circle-like, chainable) if and only if for each open cover $\U_4=\{U_1,U_2,U_3,U_4\}$ of $X$ there is a $\U_4$-map $f:X\to Y$ onto a tree (resp. onto the circle, onto the interval). A continuum $X$ is an acyclic curve if and only if for each open cover $\U_3=\{U_1,U_2,U_3\}$ of $X$ there is a $\U_3$-map $f:X\
Anomalous Hall Effect due to Non-collinearily in Pyrochlore Compounds: Role of Orbital Aharonov-Bohm Effect
cond-mat.str-elTakeshi Tomizawa, Hirhoshi Kontani
To elucidate the origin of spin structure-driven anomalous Hall effect (AHE) in pyrochlore compounds, we construct the $t_{2g}$-orbital kagome lattice model and analyze the anomalous Hall conductivity (AHC). We reveal that a conduction electron acquires a Berry phase due to the complex d-orbital wavefunction in the presence of spin-orbit interaction. This ``

The accurate asymptotic evaluation of marginal likelihood integrals is a fundamental problem in Bayesian statistics. Following the approach introduced by Watanabe, we translate this into a problem of computational algebraic geometry, namely, to determine the real log canonical threshold of a polynomial ideal, and we present effective methods for solving this

We elucidate certain aspects of F-theory gauge dynamics, due to quantum splitting of certain brane stacks, which are absent in the Type IIB limit. We also provide a working implementation of an algorithm for computing cohomology of line bundles on arbitrary toric varieties. This should be of general use for studying the physics of global Type IIB and F-theor

Let $\mathbf{J} \subset \mathbb{R}^2$ be the set of couples $(x,q)$ with $q>1$ such that $x$ has at least one representation of the form $x=\sum_{i=1}^{\infty} c_i q^{-i}$ with integer coefficients $c_i$ satisfying $0 \leq c_i < q$, $i \ge 1$. In this case we say that $(c_i)=c_1c_2...$ is an expansion of $x$ in base $q$. Let $\mathbf{U}$ be the set of couple

Through the AdS/CFT correspondence, we study a uniformly accelerated quark in the vacuum of strongly-coupled conformal field theories in various dimensions, and determine the resulting stochastic fluctuations of the quark trajectory. From the perspective of an inertial observer, these are quantum fluctuations induced by the gluonic radiation emitted by the a

We have performed scanning gate microscopy (SGM) on graphene field effect transistors (GFET), using a biased metallic nanowire coated with a dielectric layer as a contact mode tip and local top gate. Electrical transport through graphene at various back gate voltages is monitored as a function of tip voltage and tip position. Near the Dirac point, the depend
GPU-based ultra-fast direct aperture optimization for online adaptive radiation therapy
physics.med-phChunhua Men, Xun Jia, Steve. B. Jiang
Online adaptive radiation therapy (ART) has great promise to significantly reduce normal tissue toxicity and/or improve tumor control through real-time treatment adaptations based on the current patient anatomy. However, the major technical obstacle for clinical realization of online ART, namely the inability to achieve real-time efficiency in treatment re-p

We consider the interaction between a particle beam and a propagating electromagnetic wave in the presence of a metamaterial. We show that the introduction of a metamaterial gives rise to a novel dispersion curve which determines a unique wave particle relationship, via the frequency dependence of the metamaterial and the novel ability of metamaterials to ex

A general method for establishing results over a commutative complete intersection local ring by passing to differential graded modules over a graded exterior algebra is described. It is used to deduce, in a uniform way, results on the growth of resolutions of complexes over such local rings.

The paper contains a short description of the scientific papers of Professor Boris Ya. Sukharevsky on condensed matter physics. His basic scientific activity was related to following directions: structural vacancies concept; influence of point defects on statics and kinetics of phase transitions; DNA crystallization and low-dimensional systems properties; ph

A homogeneous knot is a generalization of alternating knots and positive knots. We determine the Rasmussen invariant of a homogeneous knot. This is a new class of knots such that the Rasmussen invariant is explicitly described in terms of its diagrams. As a corollary, we obtain some characterizations of a positive knot. In particular, we recover Baader's

We show that all perfect odd integer squares not divisible by 3, can be usefully written as sqrt(N) = a + 18p, where the constant a is determined by the basic properties of N. The equation can be solved deterministically by an efficient four step algorithm that is solely based on integer arithmetic. There is no required multiplication or division by multiple
Undamped energy transport by collective surface plasmon oscillations along metallic nanosphere chain

The random-phase-approximation semiclassical scheme for description of plasmon excitations in large metallic nanospheres (with radius 10--100 nm) is developed for a case of presence of dynamical electric field. The spectrum of plasmons in metallic nanosphere is determined including both surface and volume type excitations and their mutual connections. It is
