There are great demands to design functional devices with isotropic materials, however the transformation method usually leads to anisotropic material parameters difficult to be realized in practice. In this letter, we derive the isotropic transformed material parameters in case of elastodynamic under local conformal transformation, they are subsequently use

We investigate here the particle acceleration by naked singularities to arbitrarily high center of mass energies. Recently it has been suggested that black holes could be used as particle accelerators to probe the Planck scale physics. We show that the naked singularities serve the same purpose and probably would do better than their black hole counterparts.

On Functional Decomposition of Multivariate Polynomials with Differentiation and Homogenization
cs.CRShangwei Zhao, Ruyong Feng, Xiao-Shan Gao
In this paper, we give a theoretical analysis for the algorithms to compute functional decomposition for multivariate polynomials based on differentiation and homogenization which are proposed by Ye, Dai, Lam (1999) and Faug$μ$ere, Perret (2006, 2008, 2009). We show that a degree proper functional decomposition for a set of randomly decomposable quartic homo

Gamow's explanation of the exponential decay law uses complex "eigenvalues" and exponentially growing "eigenfunctions". This raises the question, how Gamow's description fits into the quantum mechanical description of nature, which is based on real eigenvalues and square integrable wave functions. Observing that the time evolution of

We calculate the amount of angular momentum that thermal photons carry out of a viscous black hole accretion disc, due to the strong Doppler shift imparted to them by the high orbital velocity of the radiating disc material. While the emission of radiation can not drive accretion on its own, we find that it does result in a loss of specific angular momentum,

The present work is devoted to the study of dynamical features of Bohmian measures, recently introduced by the authors. We rigorously prove that for sufficiently smooth wave functions the corresponding Bohmian measure furnishes a distributional solution of a nonlinear Vlasov-type equation. Moreover, we study the associated defect measures appearing in the cl

We have studied the properties of giant star forming clumps in five z~2 star-forming disks with deep SINFONI AO spectroscopy at the ESO VLT. The clumps reside in disk regions where the Toomre Q-parameter is below unity, consistent with their being bound and having formed from gravitational instability. Broad Hα/[NII] line wings demonstrate that the clumps ar

We present a novel numerical method that allows the calculation of nonlinear force-free magnetostatic solutions above a boundary surface on which only the distribution of the normal magnetic field component is given. The method relies on the theory of force-free electrodynamics and applies directly to the reconstruction of the solar coronal magnetic field fo

We study scalar potentials and the corresponding vacua of N=10 three dimensional gauged supergravity. The theory contains 32 scalar fields parametrizing the exceptional coset space $\frac{E_{6(-14)}}{SO(10)\times U(1)}$. The admissible gauge groups considered in this work involve both compact and non-compact gauge groups which are maximal subgroups of $SO(10

We investigate the transfer of entanglement from source particles (SP) to target particles (TP) in the Heisenberg interaction $ H=\vec s_{1} \cdot \vec s_{2}$. In our research, TP are two qubits and SP are two qubits or qutrits. When TP are two qubits, we find that no matter what state the TP is initially prepared in, at the specific time $t=π$, the entangle

The morphology of water ice in the interstellar medium is still an open question. Although accretion of gaseous water could not be the only possible origin of the observed icy mantles covering dust grains in cold molecular clouds, it is well known that water accreted from the gas phase on surfaces kept at 10 K forms ice films that exhibit a very high porosit

Given any complex number $a$, we prove that there are infinitely many simple roots of the equation $ζ(s)=a$ with arbitrarily large imaginary part. Besides, we give a heuristic interpretation of a certain regularity of the graph of the curve $t\mapsto ζ({1\over 2}+it)$. Moreover, we show that the curve $t\mapsto (ζ({1\over 2}+it),ζ'({1\over 2}+it))$ is no

In this work we find new minimum sizes for the maximal partial spreads of PG$(3,q)$, for $q=8,9,16$ and for every $q$ such that $25\leq q\leq 101$. Furthermore, for $q=8,9,16,25$ and 27 we find all the unknown sizes between our minimums and the value $q^{2}-q+2$. Moreover, we obtain density results also in the cases $q=19$ and $q=23$, already studied but not

Families of dark solitons exist in superfluid Fermi gases. The energy-velocity dispersion and number of depleted particles completely determines the dynamics of dark solitons on a slowly-varying background density. For the unitary Fermi gas we determine these relations from general scaling arguments and conservation of local particle number. We find solitons

We study a three-component superfluid Fermi gas in a spherically symmetric harmonic trap using the Bogoliubov-deGennes method. We predict a coexistence phase in which two pairing field order parameters are simultaneously nonzero, in stark contrast to studies performed for trapped gases using local density approximation. We also discuss the role of atom numbe

One of the central challenges facing modern neuroscience is to explain the ability of the nervous system to coherently integrate information across distinct functional modules in the absence of a central executive. To this end Tononi et al. [Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. USA 91, 5033 (1994)] proposed a measure of neural complexity that purports to capture this prope

In a hot, dilute, magnetized accretion flow, the electron mean-free path can be much greater than the Larmor radius, thus thermal conduction is anisotropic and along magnetic field lines. In this case, if the temperature decreases outward, the flow may be subject to a buoyancy instability (the magnetothermal instability, or MTI). The MTI amplifies the magnet

We consider two recently proposed measures of non-Markovianity applied to a particular quantum process describing the dynamics of a driven qubit in a structured reservoir. The motivation of this study is twofold: on one hand, we study the differences and analogies of the non-Markovianity measures and on the other hand, we investigate the effect of the drivin

The axioms of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics lack clear physical meaning. In particular, they say nothing about nonlocality. Yet quantum mechanics is not only nonlocal, it is twice nonlocal: there are nonlocal quantum correlations, and there is the Aharonov-Bohm effect, which implies that an electric or magnetic field h e r e may act on an electron t h e

It is proposed that the variable TeV emission observed in M87 may be produced in a starved magnetospheric region, above which the outflow associated with the VLBA jet is established. It is shown that annihilation of MeV photons emitted by the radiative inefficient flow in the vicinity of the black hole, can lead to injection of seed charges on open magnetic

We analyze the performance of CSMA in multi-channel wireless networks, accounting for the random nature of traffic. Specifically, we assess the ability of CSMA to fully utilize the radio resources and in turn to stabilize the network in a dynamic setting with flow arrivals and departures. We prove that CSMA is optimal in ad-hoc mode but not in infrastructure
