We describe classes of ergodic dynamical systems for which some statistical properties are known exactly. These systems have integer dimension, are not globally dissipative, and are defined by a probability density and a two-form. This definition generalizes the construction of Hamiltonian systems by a Hamiltonian and a symplectic form. Some low dimensional

Interaction of Josephson junction and distant vortex in narrow thin-film superconducting strips
cond-mat.supr-conV. G. Kogan, R. G. Mints
The phase difference between the banks of an edge-type planar Josephson junction crossing the narrow thin-film strip depends on wether or not vortices are present in the junction banks. For a vortex close to the junction this effect has been seen by Golod, Rydh, and Krasnov, \prl {\bf 104}, 227003 (2010), who showed that the vortex may turn the junction into

Quantum Hall (QH) states are predicted to display an intriguing non-dissipative stress response to a shear deformation rate, a phenomenon variously known as asymmetric or Hall viscosity, or Lorentz shear response. We discuss how the interaction between the electrons in a relativistic jet and the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) affects the observable properties of radio-loud AGN at early epochs. At high z the magnetic energy density in the radio lobes of powerful radio-loud quasars can be exceeded by the energy density of the CMB (because of its (1+z)^4 dependance).

Starting by a simple game $Q $ as a combinatorial data, we build up a cell complex $M(Q)$, whose construction resembles combinatorics of the permutohedron. The cell complex proves to be a combinatorial manifold; we call it the \textit{ simple game induced manifold.} By some motivations coming from polygonal linkages, we think of $Q$ and of $M(Q)$ as of\texti
Modeling the functional network of primary intercellular Ca$^{2+}$ wave propagation in astrocytes and its application to study drug effects
physics.bio-phMarcelo Pires, Frank Raischel, Sandra Vaz, Andreia Cruz-Silva
We introduce a simple procedure of multivariate signal analysis to uncover the functional connectivity among cells composing a living tissue and describe how to apply it for extracting insight on the effect of drugs in the tissue. The procedure is based on the covariance matrix of time resolved activity signals. By determining the time-lag that maximizes cov

We use a form of lifted harmonic analysis to develop a two-dimensional adelic integral representation of the zeta functions of simple arithmetic surfaces. Manipulations of this integral then lead to an adelic interpretation of the so-called mean-periodicity correspondence, which is comparable to the better known automorphicity conjectures for the generic fib

We write explicitly the Euler identity and the Gibbs-Duhem relation for thermodynamic potentials that are not homogeneous first-order functions of their natural extensive variables. We apply the rules to the theory of geometrothermodynamics and show how the use of the natural extensive variables, instead of the modified ones, leads to misleading results. We
Functions Characterizing the Ground State of the XXZ Spin-1/2 Chain in the Thermodynamic Limit
math-phMaxime Dugave, Frank Göhmann, Karol K. Kozlowski
We establish several properties of the solutions to the linear integral equations describing the infinite volume properties of the XXZ spin-1/2 chain in the disordered regime. In particular, we obtain lower and upper bounds for the dressed energy, dressed charge and density of Bethe roots. Furthermore, we establish that given a fixed external magnetic field

We show that if $A \subset [k]^n$, then $A$ is $ε$-close to a junta depending upon at most $\exp(O(|\partial A|/(k^{n-1}ε)))$ coordinates, where $\partial A$ denotes the edge-boundary of $A$ in the $\ell^1$-grid. This is sharp up to the value of the absolute constant in the exponent. This result can be seen as a generalisation of the Junta theorem for the di

We construct a new representation for two- and three-point correlators of operators from sl(2) sector of planar N = 4 SYM. The spin and twist of operators are arbitrary. We start with the correlation function of light-ray operators and carry out a projection to particular local operators using the method of Separated Variables. With the same calculation we o
Rates of convergence in normal approximation under moment conditions via new bounds on solutions of the Stein equation
math.PRRobert E. Gaunt
New bounds for the $k$-th order derivatives of the solutions of the normal and multivariate normal Stein equations are obtained. Our general order bounds involve fewer derivatives of the test function than those in the existing literature. We apply these bounds and local approach couplings to obtain an order $n^{-(p-1)/2}$ bound, for smooth test functions, f

Using known all-loop results from the BFKL and generalized double-logarithmic equations and large spin limit we have recomputed the five-loop planar anomalous dimension of twist-2 operators without consideration of any wrapping effects. One part of the anomalous dimension was calculated in an usual way with the help of Asymptotic Bethe Ansatz. The rest part,

While insensitive to weak non magnetic disorder, an s-wave superconductor can be driven insulating by strong disorder. Using a scheme that captures the correct ground state, and fully retains thermal amplitude and phase fluctuations, we describe the disorder driven superconductor-insulator transition at finite temperature. Our results on the resistivity sugg

The problem of deforming geometries is particularly important in the context of constructing new exact solutions of Einstein's equation. This issue often appears when extensions of the general relativity are treated, for instance in brane world scenarios. In this paper we investigate spacetimes in which the energy-momentum tensor obeys a linear constrain

Problems for evaluation and impact of published scientific works and their authors are discussed. The role of citations in this process is pointed out. Different bibliometric indicators are reviewed in this connection and ways for generation of new bibliometric indices are given. The influence of different circumstances, like self-citations, number of author

We study the inverse Robin problem for the Schrödinger equation in a half-space. The potential is assumed to be compactly supported. We first solve the direct problem for dimensions two and three. We then show that the Robin-to-Robin map uniquely determines the potential q.

I discuss the use of spinors in the construction of spin-foam models, in particular the form of the closure and simplicity constraints for triangles that are space-like, i.e. with (area)$^2=\half S^{IJ}S_{IJ}>0$, regardless of whether they belong the tetrahedra with a space-like or time-like normal, emphasizing the role of the light-like 4-vector $u_tσ^I\bar

We consider inhomogeneous viscous fluids in flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. We analyze different kinds of such fluids and investigate the possibility to reproduce the current cosmic acceleration providing a different future evolution with respect to the Cosmological Constant case. In particular, we study the presence of finite-future time singulari
