We present a model to probe metamagnetic properties in systems with an arbitrary number of interacting spins. Thermodynamic properties such as the magnetization per particle $m(B,T,N)$, linear susceptibility $χ_1(T)$, nonlinear susceptibilities $χ_3(T)$ and $χ_5(T)$, specific heat $C(B,T,N)$, and pressure $P(B,T,N)$ were calculated. Contact graphs have emerged as an important tool in the study of translative packings of convex bodies. The contact number of a packing of translates of a convex body is the number of edges in the contact graph of the packing, while the Hadwiger number of a convex body is the maximum vertex degree over all such contact graphs. We study the dynamical properties of a large class of rational maps with exactly three ramification points. By constructing families of such maps, we obtain infinitely many conservative maps of degree $d$; this answers a question of Silverman. Rather precise results on the reduction of these maps yield strong information on the rational dynamics.

Collective motion of chemotactic bacteria as E. Coli relies, at the individual level, on a continuous reorientation by runs and tumbles. It has been established that the length of run is decided by a stiff response to a temporal sensingof chemical cues along the pathway. We describe a novel mechanism for pattern formation stemming from the stiffness of chemot

D. Ruelle considered a general setting where he is able to characterize equilibrium states for Hölder potentials based on properties of conjugating homeomorphism in the so called Smale spaces. On this setting he also shows a relation of KMS states of $C^*$-algebras and equilibrium probabilities of Thermodynamic Formalism. A later paper by N. Haydn and D. Rue

We prove in particular that the Lipschitz-free space over a finitely-dimensional normed space is complemented in its bidual. For Euclidean spaces the norm of the respective projection is $1$. As a tool to obtain the main result we establish several facts on the structure of finitely additive measures on finitely-dimensional spaces.
Realization of bicovariant differential calculus on the Lie algebra type noncommutative spaces
math-phStjepan Meljanac, Sasa Kresic-Juric, Tea Martinic
This paper investigates bicovariant differential calculus on noncommutative spaces of the Lie algebra type. For a given Lie algebra $g_0$ we construct a Lie superalgebra $g=g_0\oplus g_1$ containing noncommutative coordinates and one--forms. We show that $g$ can be extended by a set of generators $T_{AB}$ whose action on the enveloping algebra $U(g)$ gives t

The ALICE experiment is dedicated to the study of the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP), a state of matter where, due to high temperature and density, quarks and gluons are deconfined. One of the probes studied to investigate this state of matter is the production of charmonium states, such as the J/$ψ$ and the $ψ$(2S). Indeed, the presence of the QGP is expected to
Frontier molecular orbitals of single molecules adsorbed on thin insulating films supported by a metal substrate: A simplified density functional theory approach
cond-mat.mes-hallIvan Scivetti, Mats Persson
We present a simplified density functional theory (DFT) method to com- pute vertical electron and hole attachment energies to frontier orbitals of molecules absorbed on insulating films supported by a metal substrate. The adsorbate and the film is treated fully within DFT, whereas the metal is treated implicitly by a perfect conductor model. As illustrated f

The Zeno and anti-Zeno effects are features of measurement-driven quantum evolution where frequent measurement inhibits or accelerates the decay of a quantum state. Either type of evolution can emerge depending on the system-environment interaction and measurement method. In this experiment, we use a superconducting qubit to map out both types of Zeno effect

We derive the Hilbert space formalism of quantum mechanics from epistemic principles. A key assumption is that a physical theory that relies on entities or distinctions that are unknowable in principle gives rise to wrong predictions. An epistemic formalism is developed, where concepts like individual and collective knowledge are used, and knowledge may be a

Given a sample of a Poisson point process with intensity $λ_f(x,y) = n \mathbf{1}(f(x) \leq y),$ we study recovery of the boundary function $f$ from a nonparametric Bayes perspective. Because of the irregularity of this model, the analysis is non-standard. We establish a general result for the posterior contraction rate with respect to the $L^1$-norm based o

We study the homogenization process for families of strongly nonlinear elliptic systems with the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. The growth and the coercivity of the elliptic operator is assumed to be indicated by a general inhomogeneous anisotropic $N-$function, which may be possibly also dependent on the spatial variable, i.e., the homogenizatio
A Survey on Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks: Perspectives on Protocol Design for Signaling, MAC and Routing
cs.NIMohammad Sharif-Yazd, Mohammad Reza Khosravi, Mohammad Kazem Moghimi
Underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs) are often used for environmental and industrial sensing in undersea/ocean space, therefore, these networks are also named underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs). Underwater sensor networks are different from other sensor networks due to the acoustic channel used in their physical layer, thus we should discuss
Quantization conditions of eigenvalues for semiclassical Zakharov-Shabat systems on the circle
math.APSetsuro Fujiié, Jens Wittsten
Bohr-Sommerfeld type quantization conditions of semiclassical eigenvalues for the non-selfadjoint Zakharov-Shabat operator on the circle are derived using an exact WKB method. The conditions are given in terms of the action associated with the unit circle or the action associated with turning points following the absence or presence of real turning points.

We study the signs of the Fourier coefficients of a newform. Let $f$ be a normalized newform of weight $k$ for $Γ_0(N)$. Let $a_f(n)$ be the $n$th Fourier coefficient of $f$. For any fixed positive integer $m$, we study the distribution of the signs of $\{a_f(p^m)\}_p$, where $p$ runs over all prime numbers. We also find out the abscissas of absolute converg
Effects of anisotropy in spin molecular-orbital coupling on effective spin models of trinuclear organometallic complexes

We consider layered decorated honeycomb lattices at two-thirds filling, as realized in some trinuclear organometallic complexes. Localized $S=1$ moments with a single-spin anisotropy emerge from the interplay of Coulomb repulsion and spin molecular-orbit coupling (SMOC). Magnetic anisotropies with bond dependent exchange couplings occur in the honeycomb laye

Most physicists do not have patience for reading long and obscure interpretation arguments and disputes. Hence, to attract attention of a wider physics community, in this paper various old and new aspects of quantum interpretations are explained in a concise and simple (almost trivial) form. About the "Copenhagen" interpretation, we note that there a

Anderson localization is related to exponential localization of a particle in the configuration space in the presence of a disorder potential. Anderson localization can be also observed in the momentum space and corresponds to quantum suppression of classical diffusion in systems that are classically chaotic. Another kind of Anderson localization has been re
Improving Classification by Improving Labelling: Introducing Probabilistic Multi-Label Object Interaction Recognition
cs.CVMichael Wray, Davide Moltisanti, Walterio Mayol-Cuevas, Dima Damen
This work deviates from easy-to-define class boundaries for object interactions. For the task of object interaction recognition, often captured using an egocentric view, we show that semantic ambiguities in verbs and recognising sub-interactions along with concurrent interactions result in legitimate class overlaps (Figure 1). We thus aim to model the mappin

A way to combine co-SLD style loop detection with structural resolution was found and is introduced in this work, to extend structural resolution with co-induction. In particular, we present the operational semantics, called co-inductive structural resolution, of this novel combination and prove its soundness with respect to the greatest complete Herbrand mo

A complex projective manifold is rationally connected, resp. rationally simply connected, if finite subsets are connected by a rational curve, resp. the spaces parameterizing these connecting rational curves are themselves rationally connected. We prove that a projective scheme over a global function field with vanishing "elementary obstruction" has
