In this paper, we consider Blackadar and Kirchberg's MF algebras. We show that any inner quasidiagonal C-algebra is MF algebra and we generalize Voiculescu's Representation Theorem for a special version of MF algebras. Moreover, we define a weak version of MF algebras namely matrical amenable (AM) algebras, and prove some results related to this new notion.

In this paper, we consider a variant of the classical algorithmic problem of checking whether a given word $v$ is a subsequence of another word $w$. More precisely, we consider the problem of deciding, given a number $p$ (defining a range-bound) and two words $v$ and $w$, whether there exists a factor $w[i:i+p-1]$ (or, in other words, a range of length $p$)

When applied to a stochastic process of interest, a restart protocol alters the overall statistical distribution of the process' completion time; thus, the completion-time's mean and randomness change. The explicit effect of restart on the mean is well understood, and it is known that: from a mean perspective, deterministic restart protocols -- termed sharp

A search for pulse signals was carried out in a new sky area included in the monitoring program for the search for pulsars and transients. Processing of several months data recorded in six frequency channels with a total bandwidth of 2.5 MHz showed that, on average, 4 pulses per hour are observed in each of the 24 connected stationary beams. Open Clusters are born and evolve along the Milky Way plane, on them is imprinted the history of the Galactic disc, including the chemical and dynamical evolution. Chemical and dynamical properties of open clusters can be derived from photometric, spectroscopic, and astrometric data of their member stars. Based on the photometric and astrometric data from th

Clustering traffic scenarios and detecting novel scenario types are required for scenario-based testing of autonomous vehicles. These tasks benefit from either good similarity measures or good representations for the traffic scenarios. In this work, an expert-knowledge aided representation learning for traffic scenarios is presented. The latent space so form
Collective Dynamics of coupled Lorenz oscillators near the Hopf Boundary: Intermittency and Chimera states
nlin.CDAnjuman Ara Khatun, Yusra Ahmed Saeed, Nirmal Punetha, Haider Hasan Jafri
We study collective dynamics of networks of mutually coupled identical Lorenz oscillators near subcritical Hopf bifurcation. This system shows induced multistable behavior with interesting spatio-temporal dynamics including synchronization, desynchronization and chimera states. We find this network may exhibit intermittent behavior due to the complex basin s
Solving the unit-load pre-marshalling problem in block stacking storage systems with multiple access directions
cs.DSJakob Pfrommer, Anne Meyer, Kevin Tierney
Block stacking storage systems are highly adaptable warehouse systems with low investment costs. With multiple, deep lanes they can achieve high storage densities, but accessing some unit loads can be time-consuming. The unit-load pre-marshalling problem sorts the unit loads in a block stacking storage system in off-peak time periods to prepare for upcoming

Motivated by the notion of boundary for hyperbolic and $CAT(0)$ groups, M. Bestvina in "Local Homology Properties of Boundaries of Groups" introduced the notion of a (weak) $\mathcal Z$-structure and (weak) $\mathcal Z$-boundary for a group $G$ of type $\mathcal F$ (i.e., having a finite $K(G,1)$ complex), with implications concerning the Novikov conjecture
Time-periodic solution to nonhomogeneous isentropic compressible Euler equations with time-periodic boundary conditions
math.APHuimin Yu, Xiaomin Zhang, Jiawei Sun
In this paper, we study one-dimensional nonhomogeneous isentropic compressible Euler equations with time-periodic boundary conditions. With the aid of the energy methods, we prove the existence and uniqueness of the time-periodic supersonic solutions after some certain time.

Recent advances in deep learning optimization showed that, with some a-posteriori information on fully-trained models, it is possible to match the same performance by simply training a subset of their parameters. Such a discovery has a broad impact from theory to applications, driving the research towards methods to identify the minimum subset of parameters

Let $\Omega$ be a bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ with $n \ge 1$. We assume that the boundary $\Gamma$ of $\Omega$ is Lipschitz. Consider the Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator $N_0$ associated with a system in divergence form of size $m$ with real symmetric and H\''older continuous coefficients. We prove $L^p(\Gamma)\to L^q(\Gamma)$ off-diagonal bounds of t

NGC~5548 is an X-ray bright Seyfert 1 active galaxy. It exhibits a variety of spectroscopic features in the soft X-ray band, including in particular the absorption by the AGN outflows of a broad range of ionization states, with column densities up to 1E27 /m^2, and having speeds up to several thousand kilometers per second. The known emission features are in

In this paper, we study the blow-up analysis for a sequence of solutions to the Liouville type equation with exponential Neumann boundary condition. For interior case, i.e. the blow-up point is an interior point, Li \cite{Li} gave a uniform asymptotic estimate. Later, Zhang \cite{Zhang} and Gluck \cite{Gluck} improved Li's estimate in the sense of $C^0$-conv

We use filtrations of the tangent bundle of a manifold starting with an integrable subbundle to define transverse symbols to the corresponding foliation, define a condition of transversally Rockland and prove that transversally Rockland operators yield a K-homology class. We construct an equivariant KK-class for transversally Rockland transverse symbols and

We analyze transport on a graph with multiple constraints and where the weight of the edges connecting the nodes is a dynamical variable. The network dynamics results from the interplay between a nonlinear function of the flow, dissipation, and Gaussian, additive noise. For a given set of parameters and finite noise amplitudes, the network self-organizes int
You Actually Look Twice At it (YALTAi): using an object detection approach instead of region segmentation within the Kraken engine

Layout Analysis (the identification of zones and their classification) is the first step along line segmentation in Optical Character Recognition and similar tasks. The ability of identifying main body of text from marginal text or running titles makes the difference between extracting the work full text of a digitized book and noisy outputs. We show that mo
A hybrid discrete-continuum modelling approach to explore the impact of T-cell infiltration on anti-tumour immune response
math.APLuis Almeida, Chloe Audebert, Emma Leschiera, Tommaso Lorenzi
We present a spatial hybrid discrete-continuum modelling framework for the interaction dynamics between tumour cells and cytotoxic T cells, which play a pivotal role in the immune response against tumours. In this framework, tumour cells and T cells are modelled as individual agents while chemokines that drive the chemotactic movement of T cells towards the
