Standing waves for 6-superlinear Chern-Simons-Schr\"{o}dinger systems with indefinite potentials
math.APShuai Jiang, Shibo Liu
In this paper we consider 6-superlinear Chern-Simons-Schr\"{o}dinger systems. In contrast to most studies, we consider the case where the potential $V$ is indefinite so that the Schr\"{o}dinger operator $-\Delta +V$ possesses a finite-dimensional negative space. We obtain nontrivial solutions for the problem via Morse theory.

Transformer language models such as GPT-2 are difficult to quantize because of outliers in activations leading to a large quantization error. To adapt to the error, one must use quantization-aware training, which entails a fine-tuning process based on the dataset and the training pipeline identical to those for the original model. Pretrained language models,

The classical Besicovitch projection theorem states that if a planar set $E$ with finite length is purely unrectifiable, then almost all orthogonal projections of $E$ have zero length. We prove a quantitative version of this result: if $E\subset\mathbb{R}^2$ is AD-regular and there exists a set of direction $G\subset \mathbb{S}^1$ with $\mathcal{H}^1(G)\gtrs

This chapter is a short pedagogical introduction to the use of quantum logic for the simulation of complex quantum systems, including a simulation example on actual quantum hardware.

A digital health twin can be defined as a virtual model of a physical person, in this specific case, a patient. This virtual model is constituted by multidimensional data that can host from clinical, molecular and therapeutic parameters to sensor data and living conditions. Given that in computational pathology, it is very important to have the information f
Learning non-stationary and discontinuous functions using clustering, classification and Gaussian process modelling

Surrogate models have shown to be an extremely efficient aid in solving engineering problems that require repeated evaluations of an expensive computational model. They are built by sparsely evaluating the costly original model and have provided a way to solve otherwise intractable problems. A crucial aspect in surrogate modelling is the assumption of smooth

The 2-opt heuristic is a simple local search heuristic for the Travelling Salesperson Problem (TSP). Although it usually performs well in practice, its worst-case running time is poor. Attempts to reconcile this difference have used smoothed analysis, in which adversarial instances are perturbed probabilistically. We are interested in the classical model of

In this work we classify all radial non-radiative solutions to the 5D nonlinear wave equations with a wide range of energy critical nonlinearity. We show that such a solution always comes with two characteristic numbers. These characteristic numbers can be determined by either the radiation profile of the initial data or the asymptotic behaviour of the solut

By definition, a group is called narrow if it does not contain a copy of a non-abelian free group. We describe the structure of finite and narrow normal subgroups in Coxeter groups and their automorphism groups.

Existing learning-based multi-view stereo (MVS) methods rely on the depth range to build the 3D cost volume and may fail when the range is too large or unreliable. To address this problem, we propose a disparity-based MVS method based on the epipolar disparity flow (E-flow), called DispMVS, which infers the depth information from the pixel movement between t

Automatic spoken language identification (LID) is a very important research field in the era of multilingual voice-command-based human-computer interaction (HCI). A front-end LID module helps to improve the performance of many speech-based applications in the multilingual scenario. India is a populous country with diverse cultures and languages. The majority

The thermodynamics of charged topological black holes (TBHs) with different horizon geometries in $d$-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell and 4-dimensional conformal gravities is revisited using the restricted phase space formalism. The concept of subsystems for black holes is introduced, which enables a precise description for the thermodynamic behaviors of (non-c
Temporal shaping of wave fields for optimally precise measurements in scattering environments
physics.class-phDorian Bouchet, Emmanuel Bossy
A wave propagating through a scattering medium typically yields a complex temporal field distribution. Over the years, a number of procedures have emerged to shape the temporal profile of the field in order to temporally focus its energy on a receiver. By analogy, we theoretically and experimentally demonstrate here how to maximize the total Fisher informati

We provide a direct proof of Seidel representation in the quantum K-theory QK(Gr(k, n)) by studying projected Gromov-Witten varieties concretely. As applications, we give an alternative proof of the K-theoretic quantum Pieri rule by Buch and Mihalcea, reduce certain quantum Schubert structure constants of higher degree to classical Littlewood-Richardson coef
X-ray Performance of a Small Pixel Size sCMOS Sensor and the Effect of Depletion Depth
physics.ins-detYu Hsiao, Zhixing Ling, Chen Zhang, Wenxin Wang
In recent years, scientific Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (sCMOS) devices have been increasingly applied in X-ray detection, thanks to their attributes such as high frame rate, low dark current, high radiation tolerance and low readout noise. We tested the basic performance of a backside-illuminated (BSI) sCMOS sensor, which has a small pixel size

Black holes are the most compact objects in the Universe. According to general relativity, black holes have a horizon that hides a singularity where Einstein's theory breaks down. Recently, gravitational waves opened the possibility to probe the existence of horizons and investigate the nature of compact objects. This is of particular interest given some qua

In this work we establish some results concerning the existence of external light rings in extremal black hole spacetimes through the Newman-Penrose formalism. Specifically, assuming conformal flatness, staticity and the null energy condition, we show that a sufficient condition for the existence of external light rings is $R < 2 K_{G}$, where $R$, the curva

Solutions of the discrete Painlev\'e II hierarchy are shown to be in relation with a family of Toeplitz determinants describing certain quantities in multicritical random partitions models, for which the limiting behavior has been recently considered in the literature. Our proof is based on the Riemann-Hilbert approach for the orthogonal polynomials on the u

The flux-mortar mixed finite element method was recently developed for a general class of domain decomposition saddle point problems on non-matching grids. In this work we develop the method for Darcy flow using the multipoint flux approximation as the subdomain discretization. The subdomain problems involve solving positive definite cell-centered pressure s
