From a geometric point of view, we show that the unitary symmetries $U(1)$ and $SU(2)$ stem fundamentally from Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordstr\"om wormhole geometry through spacetime complexification. Then, we develop quantum tunneling which makes these wormholes traversable for particles. Finally, this leads to wormhole thermodynamics.

We recently showed that if a massive (or charged) body is put in a quantum spatial superposition, the mere presence of a black hole in its vicinity will eventually decohere the superposition. Recent experimental studies on human cognition, particularly where non-separable or entangled cognitive states have been found, show that in many such cases Bell or CHSH inequalities have been violated. The implications are that greater non-local correlations than allowed in quantum mechanics (often known as the Tsirelson bound), are found in human cognition
Informing selection of performance metrics for medical image segmentation evaluation using configurable synthetic errors
eess.IVShuyue Guan, Ravi K. Samala, Weijie Chen
Machine learning-based segmentation in medical imaging is widely used in clinical applications from diagnostics to radiotherapy treatment planning. Segmented medical images with ground truth are useful for investigating the properties of different segmentation performance metrics to inform metric selection. Regular geometrical shapes are often used to synthe
Transition metal ion ensembles in crystals as solid-state coherent spin-photon interfaces: The case of nickel in magnesium oxide
quant-phE. Poem, S. Gupta, I. Morris, K. Klink
We present general guidelines for finding solid-state systems that could serve as coherent electron spin-photon interfaces even at relatively high temperatures, where phonons are abundant but cooling is easier, and show that transition metal ions in various crystals could comply with these guidelines. As an illustrative example, we focus on divalent nickel i

One of the most effective orthogonal moments, discrete Racah polynomials (DRPs) and their moments are used in many disciplines of sciences, including image processing, and computer vision. Moments are the projections of a signal on the polynomial basis functions. Racah polynomials were introduced by Wilson and modified by Zhu for image processing and they ar

This is the first in a series of two papers to establish the mass-angular momentum inequality for multiple black holes. We study singular harmonic maps from domains of 3-dimensional Euclidean space to the hyperbolic plane having bounded hyperbolic distance to extreme Kerr harmonic maps. We prove that every such harmonic map admits a unique tangent harmonic m
A projection-based reduced-order model for parametric quasi-static nonlinear mechanics using an open-source industrial code
math.NAEki Agouzal, Jean-Philippe Argaud, Michel Bergmann, Guilhem Ferté
We propose a projection-based model order reduction procedure for a general class of parametric quasi-static problems in nonlinear mechanics with internal variables. The methodology is integrated in the industrial finite element code code aster. Model order reduction aims to lower the computational cost of engineering studies that involve the simulation to a

The machine translation mechanism translates texts automatically between different natural languages, and Neural Machine Translation (NMT) has gained attention for its rational context analysis and fluent translation accuracy. However, processing low-resource languages that lack relevant training attributes like supervised data is a current challenge for Nat

In this paper, we will analyze the effects of $\alpha^{\prime} $ corrections on the behavior of a Reissner-Nordstr\"{o}m black hole. We will calculate the effects of such corrections on the thermodynamics and thermodynamic stability of such a black hole. We will also derived a novel $\alpha^{\prime}$-corrected first law. We will investigate the effect of suc
eDIG-CHANGES I: Extended H{\alpha} Emission from the Extraplanar Diffuse Ionized Gas (eDIG) around CHANG-ES Galaxies
astro-ph.GALi-Yuan Lu, Jiang-Tao Li, Carlos J. Vargas, Rainer Beck
The extraplanar diffuse ionized gas (eDIG) represents the cool/warm ionized gas reservoir around galaxies. We present a spatial analysis of H$\alpha$ images of 22 nearby edge-on spiral galaxies from the CHANG-ES sample (the eDIG-CHANGES project), taken with the APO 3.5m telescope, in order to study their eDIG. We conduct an exponential fit to the vertical in

In this paper we conclude the program of 2012.15792 and 2105.00257 about perturbative approaches for $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal quiver theories in 4D. We consider several classes of observables that involve multitrace local operators and Wilson loops scattered in all the possible ways among the quiver. We evaluate them exploiting the multi-matrix model a

The polynomials in the generators of a unitary representation of the Poincar\'e group constitute an algebra which maps the dense subspace S of smooth, rapidly decreasing wavefunctions to itself. This mathematical result is highly welcome to physicists, who previously just assumed their algebraic treatment of unbounded operators be justified. The smoothness,

We study the planar Coulomb gas in the regime where the inverse temperature $\beta_n$ grows at least logarithmically with respect to the number of particles $n$ (freezing regime, $\beta_n\gtrsim \log n$). We show that, almost surely for large $n$, the discrepancy between the number of particles in any microscopic region and their expected value (given with a

Entanglement witnesses (EWs) are a versatile tool in the verification of entangled states. The framework of mirrored EW doubles the power of a given EW by introducing its twin -- a mirrored EW -- whereby two EWs related by mirroring can bound the set of separable states more efficiently. In this work, we investigate the relation between the EWs and its mirro

In this paper, we study etale cohomologies of quadrics over R. An element in the etale cohomology is called algebraic, if it is in the image of the cycle map from the Chow ring. In this paper, we compute the etale cohomology of norm quadrics, and give examples which have many non-algebraic elements.

Let $\mathscr J$ be the space of inner functions of finite entropy endowed with the topology of stable convergence. We prove that an inner function $F \in \mathscr J$ possesses a radial limit (and in fact, a minimal fine limit) in the unit disk at $\sigma(F')$ a.e. point on the unit circle. We use this to show that the singular value measure $\nu(F) = \sum_{

We prove that the average of the $k$-th smallest prime quadratic non-residue modulo a prime approximates the $2k$-th smallest prime.

The increasingly widespread adoption of large language models has highlighted the need for improving their explainability. We present context length probing, a novel explanation technique for causal language models, based on tracking the predictions of a model as a function of the length of available context, and allowing to assign differential importance sc

We provide a $O(k^2 \mathrm{log} k)$ vertex kernel for cograph edge editing. This improves a cubic kernel found by Guillemot, Havet, Paul and Perez [1] which involved four reduction rules. We generalize one of their rules, based on packing of induced paths of length four, by introducing t-modules, which are modules up to t edge modifications. The key fact is

We aim to study the potential of the recently proposed model framework, called Technically Natural Higgs (TNH), in addressing six fundamental problems in particle physics and cosmology. These questions encompass the electroweak (EW) naturalness problem, neutrino mass generation, nature of the inflaton, the matter-antimatter asymmetry problem, origin of dark

We further develop the correspondence between representations of Ding-Iohara-Miki (DIM) algebra and Type IIB branes. In particular we explicitly compute the Hanany-Witten type 5-brane crossing operator which plays the role of the $R$-matrix and has interesting combinatorial properties. We explore the corresponding lattice integrable models and notice a possi
