Octupole correlations in the excited 0+ states and two-neutron transfers in actinide nuclei

Abstract
Impacts of octupole correlations on low-energy excited 0+ states and two-neutron transfer intensities in Ra and Th isotopes are analyzed within the interacting boson model, using the Hamiltonian parameters that are obtained from microscopic nuclear density functional theory calculations. Incorporating the octupole degree of freedom in the model is shown to give an overall reasonable description of the ground-state-band energy levels and to lower the 0+2 ones significantly. The calculation yields a number of excited 0+ states, most of which are formed by the configurations of more than one octupole boson. Octupole correlations make significant contributions to the 0+1 0+2 (p,t) and (t,p) transfer intensities in those nuclei in which the octupole collectivity is most enhanced. Behaviors of the predicted transfer intensities with the increasing neutron number along the isotopic chain reflect nuclear structural evolution.
