Moments of inertia for multi-quasiparticle configurations

Abstract

Tilted-axis cranking calculations have been performed for multi-quasiparticle states in well deformed A≈180 nuclei. In the limit of zero pairing, not only are the calculated moments of inertia substantially smaller than for rigid rotation, but also they are close to the experimental values. The moments of inertia are found to be insensitive to dynamic pair correlations.
