Importance of Baryon-Baryon Coupling in Hypernuclei

Abstract

The N - N coupling in --hypernuclei and - N coupling in --hypernuclei produce novel physics not observed in the conventional, nonstrange sector. Effects of conversion in 3H are reviewed. The role of N - N coupling suppression in the A=4,5 --hypernuclei due to Pauli blocking is highlighted, and the implications for the structure of 10\;\, B are explored. Suppression of - N conversion in \;\;\, 6 He is hypothesized as the reason that the < V > matrix element is small. Measurement of \;\;\, 4 H is proposed to investigate the full - N interaction. The implication for analog states is discussed.
