In models with flat extra dimensions tiny Dirac neutrino masses can be generated via the coupling of four dimensional Standard Model fields to a higher dimensional fermion. Here we argue that, in spite of the Dirac nature of the neutrino, quantization of the electric charge can still be understood as a result of anomaly cancellation, charge conservation and

Analysis of the radio tracking data from the Pioneer 10/11 spacecraft has consistently indicated the presence of an anomalous small Doppler frequency drift. An NLO QCD analysis of the ZEUS data on $e^+ p$ deep inelastic scattering together with fixed-target data has been performed from which the gluon and quark densities of the proton and the value of the strong coupling parameter, $α_s(M_Z^2)$, have been extracted. The study includes a full treatment of the experimental systematic uncertainties, including point

Inclusive production via gluon fusion will be the most important production channel for Higgs boson discovery at the LHC. I report on a calculation of the inclusive Higgs boson production cross section at $pp$ and $p\bar p$ colliders at next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD.

Gluon shadowing which is the main source of nuclear effects for production of heavy flavored hadrons, remains unknown. We develop a light-cone dipole approach aiming at simplifying the calculations of nuclear shadowing for heavy flavor production, as well as the cross section which does not need next-to-leading and higher order corrections. A substantial pro

We calculate the subleading twist contributions to the endpoint of the inclusive lepton energy spectrum in B -> X_u l ν. We show that the same two subleading twist functions that appear in the decay B -> X_s γgovern the subleading effects in this decay. Using these results we find large O(Lambda/mB) corrections to the determination of |Vub| from the endpoint

The charged lepton spectrum in semileptonic $B\to X_u \ell\barν$ decay near maximal lepton energy receives important corrections from subleading structure functions that are formally suppressed by powers of $Λ_{QCD}/m_b$ but are enhanced by numerical factors. We investigate the series of higher order terms which smear over a region of width $ΔE_\ell \sim Λ_{

The computation of the muon anomalous magnetic moment in the framework of a proposed extension of the Standard Model to 5 dimensions is presented. The result (a small correction with respect to the SM prediction) is briefly discussed.

For many observables, the most difficult part of a single logarithmic resummation is the analytical treatment of the observable's dependence on multiple emissions. We present a general numerical method, which allows the resummation specifically of these single logarithms. Some first applications and new results for the thrust major, the oblateness and th

The vortex contribution to the $k$-string tensions is computed for SU($N$) gauge theories. We deduce the surface densities needed to reproduce the sine scaling and the Casimir scaling formulae, recently obtained from numerical simulations on the lattice. We find that such densities need to grow linearly in $N$, which in turn suggests that the vortex scenario

We describe the results of four new searches based on data samples from the 1992 - 1996 proton-antiproton 1.8 TeV Collider run at Fermilab. DZERO has searched for resonant slepton production in the two muon plus two jet channel. Using the R-parity violating mSUGRA model, smuon and smuon neutrino masses up to 280 GeV/c2 are excluded. CDF has searched for R-pa

This paper describes recent developments in Heavy Flavour physics at LEP, focusing on a new result from the ALEPH Collaboration on the search for flavour oscillations of the Bs meson. The impact of this analysis on the world combination and the resulting limit on the Bs oscillation frequency are discussed.

In the fixed energy environment of the $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider DA$Φ$NE, KLOE can measure the cross section of the process $e^{+}e^{-} \to hadrons$ as a function of the hadronic system energy using the radiative return method. At energies below 1 GeV, $e^{+}e^{-} \to ρ\to π^{+}π^{-}$ is the dominating hadronic process. We report here on the status of the analys

Using a data sample of 62 million \FourS\to B\Bbar decays collected between 1999 and 2001 by the BaBar detector at the PEP2 asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC we study events in which one neutral B meson is fully reconstructed in a final state containing a charmonium meson and the flavour of the other neutral B meson is determined from its decay products.
